anyone currently deployed to LSA Anaconda?

Does anyone have a sure fire way to get rid of bats in your attic? I can't say I'm willing to entertain entering the attic to do so either. I am guessing there are about 1000 of them in there.

When they leave in the evening to hunt bugs etc. for food, find out how they are getting in and out, wait for them to leave and seal it up.

Had a neighbor in the country many years ago, who went after them with a shotgun, but he had 'bats' in other places than his attic!

Sit outside right before dark in a lawnchair in the yard, and you should see them start to come out and you will be amazed at how many you can count. The neighbors had over 400 come out one night. And then he came in the bar with one on his back. It got in his closet somehow and clung to the flannel shirt he had on. He sealed up the hole after that. pretty gross if you ask me. Think of all the **** in the attic. :--)

Bats are our friends... When they're not in the attic of course.

I can get a phone number of a bat removal guy or service. Just saw the sign today.

Good Luck

I'd say ask the Joker or the Penguin, but they don't know how either..... :-laf

(Sorry- a lil' punchy at work today, and it is the 'other' forum) :D

After you seal up the hole and the bats can't get back in they will sleep under the eaves of your house and crap all over the side of the house. I know all too well. Might be unsensitive, but I just get the exterminator out to kill em. I would definitely clean the attic out so as not to wind up with other pests feeding on the excrement.

Have you thought of going into the bat guana business? It's pretty crappy work but I hear the money is good. :D

They can get in a very small hole in the most unlikely of places. Try to find where they are coming out, eaves, soffits, flashing around chimney vent pipes. Once they leave plug the hole(s) that spray expanding foam works well. You may want to check the attack as not all leave everytime.

Had afriend go through this last summer. He sealed up the holes and they came out inside the house trying to get out. They came down between the chimney and the framing into the basement. Just turn off all the lights and open the doors they'll find their way out eventually. Moth balls helps to keep them out.

They are a good thing to have around outside as they eat a ton of bugs, but their guano can be toxic inside the house. A bat house is simply a board with mesh stapled to it and another board over top with about a 1" gap between the two boards hung anywhere shady.

good luck

Been there done that, had bats in the attic for years, tried everything to get rid of them, they even got in the house 4 or 5 times during summer months.

Finally when I had my new furnace and water heater put in,I got the kind where it could be vented though the wall not the chimney,so I didnt need the chimney anymore, that is where they was getting in,so I had the chimney cut down below the roof line and sealed up the hole when I had a new roof put on.

Since then no more bats. .

The chimney was in bad shape so it was no loss. .
