all the more reason to use remote plug-ins and quick-connects at least at one end of the jumper cable transaction... TWECO makes insulated extension plugs designed to stretch an arc-welder's cable ... I have 2 female ends mounted (not that way!

) to a piece of 2x2x1/8 angle iron bolted (selftap screws) into one of those rectangular bumper holes, and the corresponding male ends at the ends of some looooonnnngggg pieces of #0 welding cable (same stuff leads from the receptacles to the battery)---at least you have only one clamping adventure to worry about-- the other end just twist-locks into place ---both color coded w/red&black plastidip for safety--- get all the necessary goodies from your local welder's supply, and the piece of angle iron from your scrap-heap---$100 for HD safety, and reduction of "teethmarks" on your battery clamps
I guess its also good to live where the heat's so intense that the batteries have a different failure mechanism than that, too---
