This may actually break the rule that there are no stupid questions.... but here goes!

The BBi website says "BBI MY 04.5 STAGE 0.1 PERFORMANCE INJECTOR SET" for the Stage 0.1s. Can I assume these work for a MY06 as well? Or just the MY 04.5? I sent them a question but figured I'd ask on here as well. I want to replace my Stage 1s with something closer to stock and the Stage 0.1s are very close in price to new stock injectors at Injectors Direct. I see the Stage 0.5s claim to be good for towing, and are listed for my MY, but I have not been happy towing at altitude (CO Mountains) - even with UDC/tuning - with the Stage 1s and want to go back to near stock - and am afraid I will continue to have EGT probs with the 0.5s.

Thanks in advance,
George

What EGT's are bothering you? A change in timing can raise or lower EGT's. Lower EGT with advanced timing may be a problem you fear vs. later timing that spools the turbo quicker.

Are you running out of engine cooling? I found high EGT's sustained would run my 2003 BBi Stage 1 equipped out of cooling. IMO it was just a little short on boost so I would back out of it biased on EGT's. (Near a smokeless tune as I could get.)

The thin DRY (hot?) air at altitude IMO is more a turbo problem than fuel. You have to have enough air for the fuel. What boost at what altitude? Are you running near the redline on the turbo boost map where it makes more boost simply by heating the air rather than more CFM?

MY4.5 is the design for 04.5-07’s.

Is there something we can do with the tune? We can turn the fuel down to .1 levels pretty easily. The .1’s will require a longer duration to get the same fuel, which can mean higher EGT’s for the same power… not always, but can.

Different beast, but I was able to get much better altitude performance from the Stage 1’s than the stock injectors.

I use a Smarty and the 0.1 BBi, in the Colorado Mountains it only did not smoke with the factory tune. Any Smarty tune smoked to some extent even rolling slowly into throttle. Stomp the throttle = rolling coal.
It's the altitude, the aftermarket tunes do not take the low air density enough into account. The factory does.

I had to return my Smarty to stock in Mammoth with stock injectors. No adjustment would allow me to use the throttle besides stock. Clean air filter and I had the most current file in there. It was a Bog monster up there without Smarty. I had the S06 POD.

For the box tunes this is generally true. With a good custom tune it can be cleaner tuned than stock. My 05 ran cleaner tunes with Stage 1’s than it did stock up thru 8K feet. I had it higher but never towing and never on any high speed roads so it’s hard to compare that.
