I have the 89% and it is night and day compared to stock. You don't have to wait for lock-up to have forward motion. The TC and VB really shine when you add more power! :D

hammer , thanks , you think it was a rocket before , you should drive it now with DD3's and the 93 , i think i'll be down on the 10th ...

i'm sure people will think i'm biased being i install DTT , but i'll tell you this , if the ANY others were better , it would be in my truck . i have driven 2 trucks with the new BD Xstator and massdiesel HAD a Pro Torque Xtreme .

the shop we work out of , mass diesel performance , has a small dirt road that takes you in and out , small incline , i haven't measured it , but its rises quickly . i use it as a gauge for TC performance , all DTT TC's 89 - 93 easily climb this hill at idle , all the way up to the street , mine actually stopped one while going in reverse , not sure what the ratio is first vs. reverse , surprised me .

anywho the 2 BD equipped trucks both made it half way and came to a dead stop , the pro torque about the same , my 93% idles at 8 mph , its actually a bit to tight sometimes .

eagle eye , i have seen the bd x up close , its looks pretty , i even asked bill why he didn't do it like that , he told me the whole story , i can't get into it , but he tried it already , couldn't get the performance out of the alum part .

bill comes from a heavy drag racing background , he borrowed the steel stator idea from the drag racing , drag racers look for the edge weight and performance wise from every single part they install. if a machined alum stator was better than a welded steel stator they would use it , even if the alum part cost more to make than the steel one .

funny , i don't see anyone bragging about the BD TC ??????

ANY MORE takers???

Well, i like what I hear about the DTT, Havn't heard ANYTHING about the others... BD, DunRite, Sun Coast, ect.

Oh well, Thanks Guys for the DTT input, but I am still fearful about the tightness of the DTT. Like I said before, I kinda like the shifting I got. I do get a flair of engine speed when locked up, so I fear my direct clutch is going to eventually go south.

I woudn't mind JUST changing the TC, but after talking with Bill K, his setup involves a TC, Valve Body, AND a new Clutch Pack. I enjoy doing things myself, and have the knowledge, but Hydraulics and fitting of clutches is VERY exacting, and NO shops local to me. Seems like alot to take on.

Thats why I was hoping for a few SUCCESS stories from others, but that may not be the case. It's hard to justify that much with a newborn and less than 20,000 miles on the truck.

And yes, I know the old saying 'You can pay me now, or pay me later'. I just wish there was a simpler and cheaper solution.

Bringing Helmet !!!!!!

Hey John,,I'll bring the helmet you bring the truck,,Sheesh, faster yet????,,You may end up making me convert my stick over to an auto if it sits me in the seat any harder than it did in Northeast,,Going to bring a hemi racer buddy of mine along for you to take for a ride,he's just not convinced by me that your truck is that good, boy is he in for a surprise,,Sent you and Massdiesel invitations hope you both recieved them,,See ya then... . I had my trans done around 20k miles. Don't be fearful of "tightness of shifting". Did you mention your concerns about this to Bill K? He probably has a solution for you.

IMHO, it is well worth doing, or having done the complete job per Bill's suggestions. It really does make a difference. Additionally, if your concerned about the warranty, I feel my trans will outlast a non-modified so I'm not concerned with that.

Eagle Eye, conside the following. You've got 20,000 miles on a basic 36,000 mile warranty.

With DTT's setup, the warranty is full replacement in the first year, and parts the next. Plus his TC has a lifetime on the stator.

Did you purchase an extended warranty? How many miles you figure you'll drive in the next 12 months?

If you can't find someone local to you, maybe we could meet half way. That's a couple hours for each of us. Then I know we'll put all of your concerns to rest.

EagleEye,

I believe that one of the valve body options offered by DTT is for towing livestock. The idea seems to be to avoid staggering the stock when the thing shifts. That may be just what you are looking for. His stuff is NOT one size fits all! Ask him about it.

I think alot of people wont post about other brands because they are afraid of getting flamed. Most also have nothing to compair they're upgrades to other than stock. Anything is better than stock.

I have a BD x stator and off the shelf complete race/pulling transmission, its worked fine for 15+ thousand miles, and I am not nice to this thing. I'm waiting for the next version of this tc but the transmission will be the same version. I've only had an output shaft fail since my conversion to the auto as compaired to 5nv4500 failers and many clutch replacements(over 5).

I'm sure you'll now see why no one posts about any other brand.

my6 , flames ??? no flames unless the person is spouting pure BS ...

eagle eye , 20k , thats alot of miles depending on how you look at it , we did a 2001 with 1800 miles and another 2001 that had the trans rebuilt by the dealer at 8000 and he came to us a week later . i waited 26k , should have did it at 5k

its your money , if you want to go with another component supplier . by all means do it , its your money . what bill is telling you needs to be done comes from experience with dodge transmissions , and really all makes , he knows his stuff . the DTT upgrade is a necessary evil , but that is detrimed when the trans is opened up , if it don't need clutches and you don't plan on going HP crazy you can get away with less instead of more , again its tailored to YOUR truck , not one size fits all .
