When I bought my truck new I got a drop in bedliner. Did not take to long to learn that drop-in bed liners and slide in campers do not work well together. I didn't know a camper could move around that much and stay in the truck!

So I removed the drop-in liner and replaced it with a rubber bed mat. Have had not problem with the camper moving since.

But I still wanted the drop-in liner to protect the wheel wells from the camper when loading.

After some thought and work with a saw, I cut the bottom out of the drop-in liner. Installed the remaining sides in the truck, and put the rubber bed mat where the bottom of the liner was. So far so good.

Spray-in

I guess I would have had the spray in theory as well. however, I will go with the "atta-boy" for the creativity in using the parts you already paid for.

No reason to spend the extra $ if what you did works.

TexasDodgeRam:

I tried the rubber mat on top of the bedliner, and the camper still moved around, between the truck and the bedliner instead of between the bedliner and the camper.

DOUGMartin:

When/If I tag the wheel well with the camper it would still be bent, the drop in gives me just a little more warning before bending sheet metal. Besides I still have trouble with running 80 grit sandpaper over the bed of my truck as the first step in protecting it from scratches. (I know and understand the purpose)

Sellesd,

I think you came up with a creative solution. I'm not a fan of spray in liners, myself and putting the mat on top of the liner is not a very good solution. As you've discovered, the bedliner will still shift where it meets the sheet metal.
