Competition First time 1/4mile this weekend!

Competition DHRA Vegas Nats Pull Video

Well, the new tuneup is working, but a little aggressive. First qualifying pass this AM, and Dustin brought the front end up about a foot or more, not once, but twice. It killed the pass, and only ran a 9. 60 150 or so. He never let off!

The photo guys from Diesel World caught it, and showed us the photo... Wild...

We then came back for pass 2 and blew the trans input on the powerglide...

Done for the weekend. Back to Colorado.

Scott,

I was there and saw the run. IIRC, it looked like the bounce and rear wheel spinup off the line brought up all 4 wheels off the ground.

My son and I stopped by earlier in the day while you were tuning the rig on jackstands (as the B2 bomber did the fly-by). Was good to see the rig up close.

Good luck.

how are dustins eyes? do they ever bother him? we all are aware of the g's dragsters pull when they throw the shoot and get in the brakes.

I wish you all would come to the East coast some time. I'd sure as heck like to see yal. If you can tell us (some racers have their secrets), on your best pass what were your times as you went down the track on that single best pass.

I have seen IHRA Top Dragsters(basically a dragster chassis with a Mountain Motor in it with huge amounts of juice) go higher than that quite alot. It shouldn't have hurt anything but it depends on what front wheels he runs, they would depending on the manufacturer bend and take most of the return to Earth.

It is kinda neat to see her all twisted up though and must have been quite the ride..... Andy

Hey Scott, I bet this will fast become one of the most popular desktop photos among us smoke loving cummins guys. I know that is will be mine for a while!

That’s perfect , if it wasn’t for the fact that the rear tire are almost flat , put some air in them, and let it get up on the tire and then pick the tires up, That is a normal launch for a car looking to go fast , we call that coon hunting. Here is what a 454 single carb on gasoline looks like on a 6. 75 pass with a . 98 60 foot .

What is impressive is that we keep being told that the car is too heavy, diesels will not run like that, the chassis is too stiff, and a hundred other opinions... . But that launch says a lot about getting the combination close. We learned a lot recently, and still have a long way to go.

Thanks to all for your support, everyone. We may get there yet...

Scott. .

The naysayers are always amiss when you show them otherwise eh. Imagine what the guys who ran theirs in Top Fuel some years ago faced when they showed up. I know I can remember the smoke show the time I seen it run down at Atlanta.

Compy...

Whose A/D is that???. .

They are my absolute favorite class in Competition eliminator to watch. They are about as unpredictable as a alcohol and as violent..... Andy

On Edit. .

My brain has unlocked I think now... Isn't that Charlie Stewarts A/ED wheeled up????

That’s Charlie Stewarts A/ED . an me standing behind in blue on the starting line on race day , My C/ED had popped a motor , so it finished the weekend crewing for him. I look at the wheel stand closer , and I see the tire need air and to be hit harder , I would bet the drive line graph actually “ J HOOKED “ . This is usually caused by the tires dead hooking and the car not having enough power to drive thru it , if you ad a little air and raise the leave it will turn the tire about one and a half revolutions and then it will get up on the tire and haul butt. This was something I had to learn ,Charlie would tell me to air them tires up, and I was hard headed , but after a few races of 1. 08 60 foots I was ready to try any thing , I aired them up to 7 lbs and the car went to a 1. 029 . this on a 11 inch tire . I believe that this car needs a whole lot less tire also a 33 x 14 or on a bad track like Vegas was this weekend a 33X 15 . Charlie told me the track was real slick, the worst he had ever seen Vegas.

Here is the input shaft that broke. It is the one in the middle. Clean snap. The new one on the right is the newest ringless, 2500 HP model. We will see.

The one on the left had 100 passes on it, and was not a super strenth one, the middle one is supposed to be good for 1200 HP, and made 2 runs.

that the 300 m or the mairgion one . I don't think youll break that one . .

The nice looking one that is not broken is the TCI "unbreakable" one. I also have a Transmission Specalties one coming that they warrant for 1 year agains breaking. HOO RAH! THis will be fun.
