Best in bed Aux/Fuel tank

A buddy at the gym that I talked into buying a 3500QC 4x4 CTD (that he loves) wants to know what is the best in bed Aux/Fuel tank. He likes diamond plate. I did a search and came up with AERO brand. Any other recommendations? Thanks

I like my Northern tool 60 gallon with toolbox, it looks great and works great too, the price is the best I have ever saw.

I didnt get one but the absolute best built diamond plate 100 gal I have ever seen was by DEEZEE... ... . awesome tank. The L shape model that crosses the entire bed and allows a tool box to sit hang right above it... ... . but it was $600+ I looked at a northern brand of the same type and there was NO comparision... ... but then the northern was about $250 cheaper.



I wound up going with a white painted steel one 105 gal because they had one that had been returned with a leak... ... normally $300 but bought it for $100... ... . welded the leak up and been happy ever since

I had one of the DEEZEE rectangular 105's in the bed, very well made. I ended up selling it because it just took up too much bed space and now have a 52 gal. L shaped white painted tank in the bed just because it was much more practical for me. Word of caution with the painted tanks, diesel stains the heck outta them. The diamond plate was much easier to keep clean.

True it will stain it... ... . but when I weighed $100 vs $600 since I didnt care for the quality of the northern tools tank it was no contest... ... I can live with the staining

Transfer Flow builds the very best in auxiliary and replacement fuel tanks! A little more money but well worth it.



They have many different designs and sizes for our Cummins powered turbo Diesels.

Hey Pit Bull!! I bought an Aero, Diamond Plate 45 gal, in-the-bed Aux. tank last March. I put that sucker in and I LOVE IT! The only thing is that I can't find a locking gas cap which doesn't leak. The stock cap they gave me doesn't leak, but it doesn't lock either. The tank is very well built, welds are all very professionally done etc. When I got mine it had some dust in it, so I rinsed it out with a quart of #2, other than that it is great.



This is a true Aux. tank, with all the outlets to run legal, but I hooked it up as a transfer tank, with a big old NAPA fuel filter/water separator mounted in-line, and a switch and green led mounted on my gauge pod. So far I have never over-filled it--knock on wood. If I was coming back that way soon, I'd pick one up for you. Aero is just over the hill in Corona, which isn't too far from me.

Robert, thanks for the info. I'm not getting one, the information is for a friend at the gym, that I talked into getting a 2002 3500QC CTD earlier this year. Plus an Aux tank would be a waste of money for me I have to stop to often to "Pee" to make it worth while

Pit Bull... but getting screwed at the station isn't fun either. . not to mention the 1400+ miles of range you have



around my home area fuel is 1. 59 to 1. 64, I just loaded up down in the valley [65 miles away] for 1. 34. . so well worth the price and install here



I have the Transfer Flow 54 gal fuel/tool combo. . the best on the market IMHO [also one of the more expensive ones] but fit and finish and install is by far the best.

They are expensive up front. When you take off down the road on a trip and the light comes on it is a good feeling knowing you have the other tank to switch to instead of worrying about if you will make it to the next fuel stop. Just my two cents.

Looks real nice "L" shaped so a tool box can sit on it.

I, like Whitmore have the Northern Tool 60 gallon with tool box above. I have no complaints about the quality of this product. It has served me well, and saved a lot of money compared to the Aero or Transfer-Flow.

I have had my Northern tool 60 gallon combo tank for about a year and a half. No problems or worries. It seemed the quality was right up there with the 1200 dollar tanks I looked at.

I almost bought the Northern too, it looked like a good one to me. Shipping was the final determinant for me, as I could drive to Corona to pick up the Aero.



By the way Dalton, how did you get 28. 5 mpg? Tell us.

I have a DEEZEE 40ga. diamond plate tank with a diamond plate crossover tool box wedging it against the cab, the tank is only 9" wide and you can not even notice it's there. It's sitting on 1/2 foam strips to keep it off the bed a little and it's wraped around the top to keep it from vibrating around. with out the electric pump on it "IT"S NOT THERE" . Here in MA under 40ga. you don't need a permit. 40-100ga. you need a small sticker from the FD,over 100ga. you have to put that big plackard on your truck. the 40ga. is the way to go

I vote for Transfer Flow. Super quality, very clean inside so your fuel doesn't get contaminated by weld residue, etc. Comes with everything needed so you don't have to chase parts to get that last bolt, fitting, clamp, or piece of hose.
