If you have not already done so putting on a BD brake I think is best $$$ spent. They at BD even put it on for me at the dyno days today, was great job and what a differance in slowing down. I would say that comming home the brake pedal was feeling left out rarely had to use it,BD brake did about 75% of slowing me down. WOW WHAT CHANGE!!!

The $35 I spent to join the TDR was the best money spent on my truck. It's already saved me a couple of hundred dollars by helping me do my own maintenance, and finding the cure for problems that pop up without taking a trip to the "stealer"

:D

I really hate to deflate the Pacbrakes; however mine sucks; and I have not had really good response from BD. It has never worked for a full 5 times in a row. Right now it won't work one time.

The problem is that what ever gear you have it in when the brake engages, that is the one that gets electronally (?) disengaged. I really think BD thinks I am nuts or something. The first time it happened was enpty on the way to IND to tour an RV maker.

Was in o/d at 75mph and let off it on a small hill and pow, no drive; coasted to a stop and put it in 3rd and drove off at 55 for a lot of miles. Then decided to turn the brake off and then stop and turn the ign off and see what happens. I did this and it ran like nothing had happened; and that is the way it goes. It will do it with 3rd also. I don't know about 2nd or 1st. But it does not do this every time. And I can understand why ever one likes them so well. Anyway----------------

Does anyone have any suggestions

B&D Or PacBrake?

Glasmith,

Do you have a Pac Brake or the B&D Exhaust brake? Fill in your profile so we can see what you have. Someone can help. ;)

Uh-oh! Careful now..

Hope that BD exhaust brake doesn't work so well

that the car/truck behind you doesn't notice you

are slowing down! ;)

Glasmiths,

Sounds like you have an automatic. I bet the problem is not with the ebrake, but the AutoLoc, TorqueLoc or what ever electronic device you use to keep the lockup clutch engaged.

Start with making sure that thing is wired up correctly, or un plug it and see of the problem goes away. The ebrake wont be effective. And long term driving will not be good on the transmission. But you can see if the problem goes away.

OK---98. 5 24V CTD, auto, 4. 10, PACBRAKE, Autolock, Gear Venders. BD torque converter, xmsn cooler under cab, with elect fan, xmsn temp gauge, BD 4" cat-back. all this in one day. I let the wife write the check.

 I disconnected the Autolock as BD told me, but nothing happens, period. The brake won't engage without the autolock on. I tried it yeasterday, the brake did not engage, but I had to stop and recycle the computer(?) before I could use O/D.

I'm not getting down on the PACbrake, when it works it is great and I like the way the autolock disengages at 20 mph. So I really think something is wired wrong. One hint, and I asked BD twice about it and they just ignored me------according to the instructions for the autolock, there should be a jumper wire on the trans relay. I do not have one. So can anyone tell me if that is supposed to be there?

Exhaust brake....

I went for a ride with Eric after we got back. I did not think I would need one until I bought a travel trailer or boat. I am thinking now that I would not need to replace my brakes if I had one. Sam

Glasmiths,

If you give us (DTT) a call at the shop (604-504-4002) we can help you resolve this problem. It will just take some time. I realize you don't have our stuff but we will be able to help. :D
