Flame red. Finally got the hose out and hand washed my truck in the driveway. Laser wash all winter best you can do in Alaska. Paint still has that grit in it needs something that will take it off. Mostly just on the sides. I used spray in a can diesel on last truck. The plastics on this truck does not like it. Need something safer and better What is it? Thanks

I think you need what is known as a clay bar with spray wax.

Bulk Clay Bar

You clean the truck really good, then you do the spray wax (acts like a lube), and then you go over it with the clay bar removing the little particulates.

I have a bad problem with industrial fallout/rail dust in my area. Gets on the paint and then looks like rust if you don't get it off -- mostly on lighter colored paints (white, silver, yellow, etc). IIRC, it doesn't do anything to the paint, it just looks awful and dulls the looks. Also makes the paint feel rough.

Pro tip: You can use it to clean up your windows and windshield from it too! Works well before a nice coating of Rain-X!

I've had good results with this:

As far as keeping it lubricated, you can use it while washing your vehicle, with your favourite car wash soap and water. As with all clay bars you just have to rinse often.

Good luck
thanks for that info/link. i used to detail cars as a kid. clay bars were torture. im 55 now, and i had no idea they had come out with this new " thing " . just ordered one. boy where does time go? cheers! chris

If you use an actual clay bar be sure you use their "lube" and not soap and water. Using soap and water as the lube with clay will make it deteriorate fairly quickly. That is the cool thing with the Mothers product above, soap and water works great.
