I am running BFG 315 tires with the stock rims. I have Rancho 9000X shocks... new. I am getting serrious vibration... the rear drivers side tire is jumping after hitting a bump in the road going about 60-70. The rear shock was bad and I had a new one put on and it's started doing it again. Had the tires balanced 4 times at Discount Tire... any ideas??

If you use the stock rims then this doesn't apply. If you use aftermarket rims, make sure you remove the metal star ring (not sure of exact name) that is on the wheel stud and is used to hold the rotor on the axle during assembly. They really aren't needed after assembly and should be removed if you use aftermarket rims. The stock rims have a clearance countersink for these clips. After market does not and will not allow the rim to sit flush with the rotor ... thus the wheel wobble and vibration.

Hope this helps!

another suggestion ( you might have doen this alleady so ignore me if you did) is to have the tires turned 180 degress on the rim and have it rebalalnced. If they have to add to much weight (which can cause vibration if you have too much) have them turn the tire another 90 degrees and rebalance. basically you want to find the correct position to match up the tire and rim so that the least amount of weights are required to balance and inturn this will greatly improve the vibrations.

Just happened this AM on the way in to work... scared the heck out of me... going 85 MPH and have that vibraton thing start... the rear axle was really hopping...

I got a new tire, finally, out of Discount after complaining for 20,000 miles and them not being able to road force the bad one. I have a vibe coming back in the front, so it's time for a rebalance and rotate. Anyone had any luck with fixing the wobble on the 315's with balance beads? I'm about ready to go for it.

On edit; I have not been nearly as happy with my Rancho 9000's on this truck as I was with them on my '96 1500. FWIW.

I had one they could not road balance... had a heavy spot in it and they gave me a new tire... but now it's that same tire causing problems. DITO on the rancho 9000X's real disapointing... one was defective already... the quality is in the toilet if you ask me.

I dont think the balance beads work at speeds over 60... I like to travel at 80... so that will not work.
