Hi Guys!
I've owned Dodge diesels since '99 - all newer leased trucks that I couldn't mess with, but I never-the-less dropped in to TDR on a regular basis. I finally got tired of a big lease payment on a truck I didn't own and found a sweet '91 W250 last May. I've been going through and getting the obvious things up to par (although it wasn't really too bad) and I'm getting close to adding some moderate upgrades to it - so I'll be back to the forum off and on I'm sure (although I've learned a **TON** just surfing and reading!!). I'm a 'newbie' of sorts to diesels, but most other aspects of trucks, mechanics, maintenance and repair I'm fairly well versed in.
Here's my question for tonight: I keep reading about the BHAF, the 'Old Smokey' kit, and other air induction upgrades. But is the BHAF a generic term for any after market air filter, or are you guys referring to one (or two) specific air filters (and or air boxes)?
From surfing the forums, it looks like the AEF is a pretty good way to go, but if I get the stock replacement drop-in element is that the BHAF that's referred to? I also see that the Fleetguard filter is also refered to as a BHAF, but, again, is that a drop-in replacement element or an entire airbox assembly? Trust me guys, if I've been surfing this site for the last couple days looking for this info and if it's here (and I'm sure it is - someplace!!) I'm not having any luck finding it!!
I'd like to have the above points clarified and know where to obtain these specific components.
Thanks in advance for any help and input!!!
PS: Engine upgrades planned before summer are a full compliment of gauges, injectors, turbo housing, and of course, air filter!! That goes along with a little bit of suspension lift, tire and wheel upgrade, and some minor body cleanup!!
