What are the biggest tires you can run on factory rims and not make your truck look dumb. i was thinking about 33's or something along that line. also if you have a 4:10 rear will the bigger tires hurt or improve fuel mileage?

Swamp-
I'm running 255/85's. They are 33. 5 inches tall. I think they look just right. Check around but I think these are the biggest (widest) tire that is recommended for the stock rims. Many people are running bigger sizes on the stock rims but I am talking about the tire manufacturers recommendations. I have the 3. 55's and my mileage is the same (after correcting for the spedometer error).

I'm running 255s also, for summer hwy use... ... 285s in fall and winter, and have 4:10s. The 255s being skinny hwy tread get me about 22. 5 mpg if I keep it around 62mph (adjusted). I can get 19. 5 or a little better with the 285s, but since I have them on during winter months, maybe the type of diesel has something to do with the lower mpg.

Largest stock 295/75 16
widest with out rub is 305/70 16 but I think that is because they are shorter than the 295/75
I am running 255/85 16 BFG MT's which at 33. 3inches tall as per BFG but I don't have good MPG data and the MT probably robs a couple MPG

What are the difference between 265/75/16 and the 255/85/16. is just alittle wider or taller. what about 32/12. 5/16 BFG. 33'S. can you put 10 inch wide tires on stock rims. thanks
