Is there a group purchase going on for torque converters? I will purchase a tc and a valve body from you. I cannot read an of the new posts in my last topic, page to big. So, do I need to get competion clutch packs? I want my transmission to be clean when it comes time for regular maitance.

I find the OEM clutches and bands stand up best in the Dodge Cummins Diesel. While i have built some using aftermarket performance clutches i dont feel they can handle the weight. Most of these clutches are designed for Drag cars and street rods.
I do however change the apply 2nd gear apply lever from a 3. 8 ratio to 4. 2.
This can be purchased through your Chrysler dealer under part # 2124579.
Re-inforced 2nd gear band strut can be purchased through Superior Technologies, part # K031. And a must in my opinion is the Mag-Hytec pan as it adds rigidity to the case and helps disipate heat.
End play clearances in this transmission is more critical than clutch pacs. I usually go to the minimum Chrysler specs other than the direct clutch pac where i go to the maximum clearance. If you need further info. just give me a call. This transmission has been given a bad rap. It is stronger than people think. The biggest problem is lack of line pressure and the cheap milled stator (low stall converters) and all the lock up devices people add to it. If you follow most of the threads you will notice most of the problem is lock up slippage.
