I took a 1 1/4" socket and epoxied 1/8" ABS plastic to make a 1" plastic faced socket. I know... . way to much work. But I did not want to damage the top with a wrench. It is truly a nice piece of work. I have not changed my fuel filter since I bought the cover.
If you come up with a nice one I could have two... ..... just make the hex 1" so I don't have to make another socket.
Are you planning on having a way for the filter cover to hold onto the filter like the one in the 2nd Gen trucks do (hard to do with any type of metal)? I guess it's not that big of a deal, but it helps to pick it up out of the filter housing.
License... . we don't need no license. :-laf I have seen too many of these on the market. I don't think it would be licensed. I like the idea of an inside release. May be too complicated, but I like it and I would buy one.
lemme finish up with the fuel filter cap, after that I really need to get on the radius rod set up for the rear ... ... ... I am sick of the wheel hop . Between all of this I need to service my industrial accounts or the bank will come take all the equipment :{
Sorry for the thread hijack--I kind of like the idea of the billet fuel door, too.
That's an interesting page--and it includes a reference to UHF, with its "Badgers?" line. I still vividly remember ROTFLMAO when I heard the first line of that in the movie, and anticipated what was coming (and of course, it was all the funnier for being so completely out of context)! :-laf :-laf :-laf
