A shop told me $60 to do it Briar Hopper style so I think I will go with them. But is it possible to do this, Briar Hopper Style(see pic), on both sides because of the gas tank??? The guy told me that this would NOT be safe because of the heat so near the gas tank. (This is a different guy then in my other thread. )

I will not have 4 pipes coiming out, just one on both sides, all 3".

Thanks,

I'll take some pictures tonight (develope) and pop 'em up on my server so I can post them here,, I'll try to see if I can get pics of how much room etc. I figure It will be hard, and find the $60 to be an unbelieavably good deal.

Hopefully pics will help other people chime in and "opinionate" whether or not it would be a good idea, or have a good Cool/Risk Ratio.

It continues to be a source of amusement to me how much attention these pipes get, for looks, and sound. :D Even after all this time, I still enjoy having them. I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it was sort of a joint thing that developed from a 3-way confab between me, Stack'd 'n' Jack'd, and a muffler shop employee in Muncie, Indiana. The results were far better than we expected.

I also like the idea of duals, with one exiting on each side, that would look good if done right. But I don't know about clearing the fuel tank. Crossing over in front of the tank is the best way, dropping down low. That's how I'd get the pipe to the driver's side, in order to run stacks, if I decided to do it.

Not me

Just my . 02

Plastic tank full of a flammable liquid, then running a HOT(when towing at least) pipe right under it... not on my truck ;)

It would look cool though

I think I will just be glad when my 4" exhaust gets here. AJ. remember some of us are a little older than you and don't like a LOT of noise, just a little bit.

you guys..

I'm just waiting for one of you guys to bite the bullet and run a stack straight up through the hood, like a farm tractor... now THAT would be interesting...

dmurdock,

This sounds like an I dea for the farm truck. It would be a 94 4x4 longbed but who cares I'll get the old pipe that is off the 4440 and do some fab work. I'll get back to you all and let you know how it comes out

well...

Let's see here... .

Bad,

The heat is the problem with this idea, I was just asking for commets like the one you gave. Towing will not be an issue however as I got nothing to tow.

Okie,

Even though I might go deaf with this exhaust, I hear what your saying now.

The Rest...

Stacks through the hood... . don't temp me. ;)

I think I will go get the job done tommorw.

Couldn't get under my truck well enough to take pictures.

Looks like what you could do, is have the 3" pipe run behind the transmission, and below the driveshaft. It would be best to cross over early like this, instead of trying to run the pipes close to the Fuel tank.

With a setup like this the pipes would run outside the framerail, and will be away from the fuel tank (The frame would also seperate them apart)

Here are some pics of my truck after the LSTDR Rally.

I have used about ~3/4 tank of fuel since then.

LOL @ this pic. . I parked at a Popular "Young People" hangout. Well, ya know how high schoolers, and some college people are,, they like to lean on everything... (Me included) Guess they won't be leaning on my truck again for awhile though... or It might end up being "keyed" cause "MY TRUCK" got them dirty. .

P. S. If more guys start doing this exhaust, I'm gonna invest some money in "Diesel soot remover" products,, heheh

"it sounds like a plane...on take off!"

That's what she said. My girlfriend after a test drive of my truck coming home from the muffler shop. Stright 3" pipe from turbo to tail. Sounds increadible. WOW was the first thing that came to my mind.

i wish....

I looked under my truck before i went to lunch, and thought about it all during lunch. Could it be possible to run it out both sides before the rear tire??? For 45 minutes i debated it. My girlfriend thought there was something wrong with me because I was so quiet.

Still thinking about it when I got to the shop and decided that it was not possible as we were getting out. Told the man just to put the pipe uup there and that was it. He asked if I wanted to put it before the rear tire liked we talked about, and I said no.

Took about 45 minutes to do it, and cost $49 wielded and tax. Sounds cool though. Maybe when I put 4" up after I get a turbo I'll think about it again.
