Been reading the posts for over a year but this is my first post. I noticed yesterday that I blew the top of the filterminder that I attached to my AFE intake. Any idea why it blew up and do I really need to replace it? Can I just plug the hole and be done with it?

Welcome to TDR!

No need to have a filter minder. It's not all that accurate with the AFE intake anyway. Just plug the hole and you'll be all good.

I am curious, though, what do you mean by blowing the top off the filter minder?

It's under a vacuum, not pressure. Is it possible that it just fell apart?

I agree the filter minder does not accurately tell you anything with an afe air intake. The new Stage II afe does not even have a place to mount the filter minder.

I am curious also about blowing top off the filter minder. Only way I could see to do that would be a super turbo bark, one that would probably take a stock turbo with it.

Mine came apart too. It seperated at the top (where the glue holds the two pieces together). Instead of losing the truck for a day and having it replaced under warranty at the dealer, I just paid the $19. XX and bought a new one. The dealer wouldn't just let me have a new one without setting up an appointment and having the service guys look at it and fill out the warranty paper work.

To look at it, it does look like the top blew off but in reality probably is just like StLouisMo said and the glued top came off. I'll just plug the hole and thanks for the responses.
