Joe the ck valve is the upper one on the stacked line the one that bolts the inj return line to the filter if you take it off and look at the thread end you will see the ck ball in the end the part # is 3924726. You are right the fuel from the inj goes into the filter (ever notice how black the filter gets) thats fine particles of carbon or soot from the injs.

Thanks for the info Jim. Learn something new every day if I pay attention. It makes sense to have a check valve there to avoid conflict with the lift pump flow. Yeah, I have noticed how black the filter gets in a short time. Other than the black stain everyone I have cut open was clean.
