Hello,

My injection pump is startin to go out. Not very happy about this one, lasted about 40,000 miles. Dealer paid for the first replacement now the truck is out of warranty. Does anybody have any info about blue chip's injection pump and their modifications. The articles on their site make it sound good, but I don't know if it is worth the extra money. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the TDR

I have a Blue Chip pump and so far it seems to be a really good unit.

I've run it for about 10,000 miles without a glitch. It starts very quickly and runs great!

I also got one of their pump covers that taps for my Comp. Very nice and clean installation.

Welcome to the TDR!!!

asvet,

Purchased the Blue Chip pump with FedEx brain several months ago. That pump now has 75,000 mi and absolutely no problems. This truck pulled a camper for half of those miles. Definitely recommend it.

BTW, do you have a fuel pressure gauge on your truck? What are the pressures at idle, WOT, and cruising? If you don't have a gauge I strongly recommend against installing any injection pump until you do and make sure the pressures are up to snuff.

I don't have a pressure guage installed. Just a mechanical guage that I can measure fuel pressure with no load on the engine. I've been going to put a fuel pressure guage in but haven't got around to it. This will probably be the motivation I need to do it.

Thanks for the replies now all I need to do is come up with the $$$ to do it before I get stranded along side the road!!!!

asvet,

The fuel psi can vary greatly on a stock lift when going from idle/no load to WOT/load. When I replaced the VP with the Blue Chip my Airdog went from 19. 5 psi to less than 5. My filter was plugged up but was unnoticable with the old VP because it wasn't pushing much fuel. New filter and back up to 19. 5 psi no matter what the load.

PM me for info on a different upgraded injection pump or stock or upgraded lift pump.

Since you asked about the Blue Chip pump, I have one and it has been great. I have about 17,000 miles on it. I recommend them.

Blue chip pumps

I had my 2nd pump installed by Chip. Can't say enough good things about his service. Got the pump in 2 days, installed it in 1 and even loaned me a car for the day. Working on something like 60 - 70k now and it hasn't missed a beat. Just turned 143k today and i'm still pulling 18 - 20mpg if I behave. We moved over to ME the summer so now he's a couple of hours away but still worth the trip. Helped me through a few issues and scans at no cost. Very nice guy.
