BMK-11 Vibration?

I have a question for the Amsoil guru's.....



I had a 98 12valve with a BMK-13. That thing made more noise than the engine!! It sounded horrible. Like a low end groan that was hard to get used to. Of course, it worked flowlessly... . Now, I was hoping to add a single bypass this time (since the 3rg gen are only reccommended for a single) but I am hoping that the groan will not be there. Now that I have a quiet common rail, I can't even imagine how loud a filter system could be... . (I am aware that the noise was actually a vibration from the oil pump)



Any ideas??

If you use the AMsoil (BMK-11 Universal mount) with the EaBP-100 filter element, you will not hae any issues concerning noise. Since this mount only allows about 6 qts. /minute through it, there will be no noises.



The BMK-13 which you had on your 98 12 Valve, required ALL the oil to flow through the lines at FULL PRESSURE and FULL FLOW generated by the oil pump! This is the biggest reason for the noise.

I run the standalone BMK-11 on my truck and it is silent...



I don't see how putting a bypass filter on at anytime would cause any harm... since all it does is filter the oil. It doesn't change the oils characteristics...

If you are using conventional oils, you could install anytime, but if you want to use a synthetic, I would hold off on the installation of the BMK-11 until you put the sysnthetic in, as it will save you the cost of a filter.

I was originally concerned that the amsoil would slow the "break in" process. That's why I wanted to know if at 2000 miles... is just too soon for it. I think I'm willing to go ahead and get and install the system, but wait for 10K miles before switching to a full synthetic.

that would be a good idea, Tom. I installed the Amsoil in my truck with 8,500 miles on it, and it now has over 63 K. without any problems. If you pull/haul heavy loads, the engine will break-in quicker. It has always been my experience when the oil consumption becomes nil between changes, the rings have seated. This is the main reason for breaking in with heavy loading of the engine. The rings simply seat quicker.



I have one individuel that put the Amsoil in his 94' CTD at 1,000 miles, and he now has over 300,000 miles,... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... and on his second oil drain, as he uses the same setup you are wanting to install.
