Yet another option is to call peirs and get one of his bolts that replaces one of the bolts in the intake horn that has a tap for a fitting. I used the port by the fuel filter and found a 3/4 to 1/8 npt bushing at the local hardware store for couple bucks and have not had any problems.

I taped the intake horn on the back side. It was recomended to get a more stable reading. Some people have problems using the test port. It is too close to the cylinders and the boost readings pulse as the engine valves open.

It is very easy to tap. Use the same tap as for the EGT probe. Just remove the intake horn. I had to replace the gasket. The older trucks have a reuseable gasket.

I TOO tapped the intake horn on the advice of members of the TDR. I took it off and drilled and tapped it. It's easy to do.

I used the drill size recommended on the tap, just use caution on useing a pipe tap due to the threads being tapered. Pipe taps are not like regular taps then get bigger the further you screw the tap in.

This is what I did. I drilled the hole and threaded the tap until I could get 3 or 4 threads (on a pipe plug) sticking through into the air horn. I used a pipe plug bought at the hardware store for this so I would not mess up my fitting.

Hope this helps.

See Ya

Another option...

Try using the plug behind the fuel filter first. I figured if it gave a "jumpy" reading on mine that I could just remove the fitting and replace the plug then drill and tap the intake horn. I used the plug and it gives a nice steady reading on my '99 24v. I have the AutoMeter 0-35 psi boost gauge. Here's a pic of where the plug is. You can see the boost line going into the engine just behind the fuel filter. I encased my boost line inside a larger piece of tubing to protect it from chafing on anything.

Thanks fellas!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of the PROS out there. You sure did make it easy on a green horn. P. S. just to let you know the old girl is putting out 33#'s of boost with no egt worries. Thanks agian. Now if my 370's will just get here!Oo.
