Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) boost gauge fluctuation

Under full throttle, my boost gauge needle 'fluctuates' or 'vibrates' very rapidly between 26-28 psi. Should it be doing this? or should the needle be steady? It is connected to the engine with an adapter at the port next to the MAP sensor.

seen a few trucks do this bad gauge and one of them i installed brand new autometer. got another cured the problem.
