Steering linkage and box takes most of the torque, thus, the ease of steering. I would break my wheelTypical "normal" loading for a steering shaft is in the neighborhood of 7 to 15 ft-lb of torque. Obviously the highest is when stopped and turning the wheel, or when turning when one tire is against a curb.
