That was my plan as my stock exhaust it gone at 122,000. transmission was redone at 105,000 with beefed up Por Torque converter. Any problems with that particular box? It does not tap the pump wire. Thanks!

The big Hoss is one of the newer generation fueling boxes that doesn't tap the wire. There are others out there also (such as made by quadzilla). This limits the hp gain to about 60. The ottomind taps the pump wire and will give more hp. The exhaust elbow is a nice piece, I have one. But you won't need it if the big hoss is all you get. It you have an auto with the hy35 turbo, save your money on the elbow and get a better turbo. Their exhaust it top notch. This upgrade will give your truck a nice kick but your not gonna set any speed records.

I had a Big Hoss, it was my first box. I couldn't tell it was working, tried 3 different boxes & got the same results. If you want good tap free power in a module, get a XZT+ from Quadzilla or Edge EZ ... . You will love them. I've tried about everything made for vp trucks & those 2 are the most fun. I would also suggest a Smarty tuner, it is by far the best "programmer" on the market.

I ran a "no tap" big hos on my '00. The best way to describe it is that during normal driving, the hp increase was very minimal. However, it really made a difference when towing. I could pull hills at a higher speed with no downshifting. I bought it on sale, but even at that, I wouldn't buy one again. If I was in need of a small/safe power increase I would buy an Edge EZ for about the same price. You have the option of running it without the wire tap and it will do the same thing as the no tap big hoss, but with the option of tapping the wire when you get ready for a little power. If you can swing the $$, buy a Smarty and load one of the lower softwares. You will probably be much happier.

On a side note, I don't see gauges in your sig. EGT and boost are open to debate, but even at lower power levels you HAVE TO monitor fuel psi.

New big hoss install

;)I just installed the big hoss on my truck and in conjuntion with the 4in and an intake the truck woke right up and i love it. ;)

I just took my ottomind off. A person can't tell if it works or not unless you are pulling. Then it is noticeable. I bought a Smarty... . I put it on the fuel saver program. . and I notice more power and response than I ever did with the Banks kit. With that being said I was empty... we'll see how she does on a different program when I hook up in the next few days.

For heavy towing, try SW3 timing 4.

Sorry but you have got it backwards and twisted.

1. Gauges first, always. Establish a stock baseline and you can better manage your BOMB's.

2. Forget that you ever heard of Banks! You can get better and lower price performance.

Not trying to start a war, I'm just sayin'... ... .

Thanks guys sorry I was busy and wasn't back for a while. Yes I need gauges also.

What does the Smarty do?

Person at Banks said my pump is not a really good pump to tap as it will work harder?

thinking of this kit then I get gauges, Banks Power | 98-02 Dodge - 5. 9L Cummins ISB>>Stinger® System

if i could find a box that would give me more off the line power for around the town i would switch it because thats what i was going for and what i got was better pulling power but no stop llight to stop light power

I haven't run a Smarty, but if I had the $$ I would get one. Especially knowing what I know now. However, if you're looking for a small to moderate gain that won't overly tax the fuel system or trans and also doesn't break the bank, it's going to be pretty tough to be the Edge EZ. Either way, you must have gauges for EGT and trans temp. A way of monitoring fuel psi is also a must. A gauge would be nice, but a warning light will suffice at the bare minimum. A boost gauge is a very good investment, but not absolutely necessary to prevent engine damage... at lower power levels.

I sure do like the setup that a friend of mine has on his truck. He has a 3 gauge A pillar with a boost/egt combo gauge, trans temp, and fuel psi.

The Adrenaline would give the lowend/highend power you are looking for. With the Torq Tune, it is every bit as strong as Smarty lowend. I actually loaded Smarty & couldn't tell a difference with that tune.

Can I mess up with the tuning on a Smarty and kil the engine? :{

I have a fuel pressure gauge now but that was for the lift pump failure deal. It was a Westtech and it stopped working recently. It was an electric gauge. I don't mind putting in gauges. What other exhaust systems are there that are stainless and FIT nicely without starting to modify things? My mechanic put BANKS on his GMC and he was impressed with the fit.

I use the truck for work and usually have a loaded gang box on it. Not sure of the weight but the truck feels a bit more lively when it forst comes off. Not sure on the weight 600-800 lbs.

I also tow a Corvette I road race and tow a open trailer (10,000 lb. ) with various things for my masonry business which let's me leave the big flat bed in the yard.

Thanks for all the input!:)
