Well, here we go again. Got to shop this morning, scanner will not talk to pcm. Says comm error and will not connect. It will read engine exc just won't talk to PCM. ?
So took it for test ride and decided to put it on the rack and pull the pan and check out why no Overdrive. \\\\\
Pan dropped, full of metal shavings,,,Agggggggggggggggggggggggg. It looks like about 1/3 of a dixy cup worth. The magnet is about 3/8 thick and looks like a wooly worm, and shavings hanging in the droplets, aluminum and steel.
So we pulled the transfer case and pulled the od unit, Looks pretty good nothing that looks like ground up there, Soooo out comes the transmission #4 TIME. We tore it apart, Nothing looks bad, just scratched up a bit from the shavings, Leaning towards the TC as that is the only place that much metal could come from, after the initial exam......
I just got home and got to thinking i did not change out my transmission cooler till a couple weeks ago, maybe that crap came from there, from the first 3 fails . That is all i can think at this point. Will go back tomorrow and we will go over everything else and i will see if he thinks it is the TC or could be the old cooler was packed with that crap.
Either way will probably have to replace the TC to get the crap out of it.
Will let you guys know what the verdict is..... Dirk
