Let us know what he finds! It has been a bumpy road, but look at all you have learned as a positive!!!

Given all things are normal, as soon as you ground pin #11 the TC should lock and you will feel it. This does not matter if TH is on or off, it should lock the TC. At low throttle opening once the TC locks it also forces the gov pressure high which cause a stack shift into OD, at higher throttle opening you can get a nice shift pattern locked to locked but it should still go all the way to OD. The circuits are linked, determination was made that any time lockup is engaged downshifting is disabled so locked to locked shifts do not happen, that is OE design.

First thing I would try is moving the gorund point off the battery to a chassis ground. Ground and power sources directly to the battery are just a bad idea on these trucks, too mnay chances of interference. If you have verified power to the trans in the harness and grounding either TCC or OD solenoid sense wire does not activate the feature, the problem is internal to the trans. That problem could be mechanical, or, the VB harness\solenoids could be bad.

If you have replaced the VB harness with a known good harness and solenoids then it is a VB problem or internal trans issue in a circuit.

TH? This is a 98.5 47RE! He already verified that the TC is locked in 3rd and when he release OD lock out the RPM's go up indicating the TC unlocked for the shift, which does not occur.

What am I missing?

LOL, TH or OD Off it doesn't really matter.

He also said grounding pin 11 made no difference, I am assuming it did not lockup on demand either. Could be wrong but have to read what I see. Sounds like the TCC is working but OD is flaky, could still be a bad harness or solenoid. Grounding either pin should immediately activate the feature, except lockup in 2nd gear, that takes a physical chnage to accomplish. If it doesn't activate with the switch then somethign is wrong. The jumper on the relay may or may not be an indicator. It could be the relay went bad for a shorted wire or solenoid, or, just went bad ad they like to do.

I would probably put a gauge on the OD circuit now and see if there is any pressure fluctuation as OD is engaged. If pressure does fluctuate and come up some the circuit is applying and likely the OD clutches are bad. No chnage in pressure means the circuit is not activating.

If I may interject here.... what power is your truck making? It looks heavily modified.... With due respect to your transmission builder, is your OD clutch pack is not upgraded, it will not hold up.... and if it lost pump pressure to apply the clutch packs at any point in time... well, they're toast. Seeing the sudden frequent failure rate, I'm thinking a PCM failure, or wire loom issues, combined with the power upgrades....

The only power mods are the bosio injectors which are like a 275 hp injector and a mad ecm which i pulled out after the 2nd transmission failed. The transmission was rebuilt 3 times with all new parts, I watched the last 2. The guy who built my first rebuild back 3 years is the one looking at it monday, The one he built 3 years ago was doing fine till the flex plate spun the center out of it. That is when the pump housing split, and this saga began the next 3 rebuilds........ Drik

Well, here we go again. Got to shop this morning, scanner will not talk to pcm. Says comm error and will not connect. It will read engine exc just won't talk to PCM. ?
So took it for test ride and decided to put it on the rack and pull the pan and check out why no Overdrive. \\\\\
Pan dropped, full of metal shavings,,,Agggggggggggggggggggggggg. It looks like about 1/3 of a dixy cup worth. The magnet is about 3/8 thick and looks like a wooly worm, and shavings hanging in the droplets, aluminum and steel.

So we pulled the transfer case and pulled the od unit, Looks pretty good nothing that looks like ground up there, Soooo out comes the transmission #4 TIME. We tore it apart, Nothing looks bad, just scratched up a bit from the shavings, Leaning towards the TC as that is the only place that much metal could come from, after the initial exam......

I just got home and got to thinking i did not change out my transmission cooler till a couple weeks ago, maybe that crap came from there, from the first 3 fails . That is all i can think at this point. Will go back tomorrow and we will go over everything else and i will see if he thinks it is the TC or could be the old cooler was packed with that crap.
Either way will probably have to replace the TC to get the crap out of it.
Will let you guys know what the verdict is..... Dirk

Both shops said they blew out the lines and cooler, what a crock of HUEEYYYY, I guess live and learn, change the cooler to a type that could be blown clean, the ones like a radiator can't be cleaned out without taking it apart and rodding it out like the old radiator guys. Not sure yet but that is my best guess.

Wow man, that's a tough break on your trans saga. I had an auto and had it built before I had any mods done to it and ran flawlessly for almost 100k before I sold it at 200k. That sounds like a real pain in the rear, personally I went for the manual with 4 wheel disc still in 2nd gen body with mechanical injectors. Hope you get it figured out

It's official #4................................... The TC was shot...... Rebuilt trans, and put it back together, took it for a ride and it is back to normal. Somewhere along the line someone had put a VB out of a 96 in it.
The od clutches were not shimmed right also. We will see how it pulls this week, still need to run back up there tomorrow, and tweak a few things. We finished up and it was past closing time and we all wanted to go home. So will finish up tomorrow..... Dirk
