My son has a 99 4x4 lwd reg cab diesel. He put Goodyear MT 305/70 16 on. He has around 48000 miles on tires. He had flat so he put spare on. He has my old 285/75 16 for spare. There is very little height difference. He had to drive around 50 miles to get home. Brake light/ABS light came on. Talked to La Grange Dodge & he said to disconnect batterys & it might reset. It did. But next morning when he started it and drove to work lights came back on. Talked to La Grange this morning. They said sensor on rear diff. might have gone bad. I will take it there Sat. morning so they can put there computer on and see what it tells. Its possible they can do a reset,if not will have to replace sensor. We can do that ourselves, costs 30-35 dollars. He has around 67000 on it,never been to shop for anything. O well.

Sometimes just removing the sensor from the
housing and cleaning it will take care of
problem. sensor is magnetic and will collect
metal particals. You can pull the fault codes
from the system yourself by grounding the
diagnostic connector and counting flashes of
the fault lite. You really need a manual so
you can read how to do this and what the flashes mean. Disconecting the battery does
resset the system, but the code will return
until the problem is fixed.

Just got back from La Grange Dodge. They did there diagnostics and it shows sensor bad. So I bought new one $37. 92 and will replace. Will see if old one has metal particles when we remove it. If it does we will replace diff fluid again. We just changed it to Amsoil 75w90 several months ago. Tech said lights might go off if we disconect batteriers again or he might have to put computer back on to clear them. No charge just for part.

Well it looks like I might have the wrong part. This is suppose to be a replacement kit for the SENSOR-REAR WHEEL SPEED. The one that was in it looks like a coil on it- part that goes in the hole. The one that I got has some sort of cap over the coil(maybe made that way)But cap will not come off or go in hole in rear diff. Very tight going in and stops when it O-ring cutoutSo I want know till Monday afternoon if it is the wrong one. I guess the Ultra Gray will have time to cure.

After looking at sensor more it looks like cap that goes over coil broke off when I was removing it. It was tight, just thought it was stuck. Now to get part that broke off out of diff. Might have to drain oil again and remove cover again. I didn't think they would have coil in oil. I guess light buld is finally comming in my head. Guess I am getting to old for this.

Well I got the part of the old sensor that broke off(cap that went over coil) in the rear diff out yesterday. It was not that hard. Got the new one end & everything works. Disconnected batteries to reset everything and lights are out. Might have to take it to dealer to clear codes. But its back on the road now.
