The grade was long and around 6% or a little more on the Richardson Highway toward Valdez, Alaska and I was following a motorhome with a small car in tow and keeping my distance as he was on his brakes. I noticed the pickup behind me got a little close at times but then would fall back to a safe distance. At a photo op turnoff, I wheeled in and stopped as did the pickup whose driver got out and walked back to me to tell me the brake lights only worked a couple of times, one was when I pulled into the turnout. I thanked him and explained that I have a Jacobs (Mopar) exhaust brake which registered with him "Oh... a Jake?". He was concerned that someone may run into the rear of the 12,000 lb. fifth wheel I was towing as I was slowing down with no service brakes or brake lights being used. E-brakes win again!! Oo. The motorhome pulled over at another turnoff and the smell of Raybestos filled the air. :p
