Greetings,

What size of brass valve stems and where do I get them for a 96 dually?

I've lost the air three times in two different tires due to valve stem failure. They had rubber stems, I'm not sure where they came from or if they are the originals or not. The tire man put in a nice brass valve stem in the first failure and it's been fine since then. On the second failure the tire man didn't have any metal valve stems. That is the same tire that let go again, it's on the inside dual rear wheel and is no longer usable. I just ordered 4 new Michelan tires at a good chunk of change and will have all new brass stems installed. The problem is that I don't think the tire shop I'm dealing with has any brass stems or the correct size for my dually. Does anyone have any good part numbers of brass valves that I can get and bring to them for installation? Thanks in advance,

Sounds like cheap rubber stems. I have used rubber stems for years with not a single issue. I have found with heavy trucks, you really need someone that is good with heavy truck tires. I stopped going to Sears, Sams, Firestone, etc. cause of that reason. Found a guy that specialized in heavy vehicles (RV's, busses, etc) and have not had a single problem since.

Stems should all the be same though in sizing.

I had trouble on my horse trailer with horses pawing the rubber valve stems, your tire shop or any auto parts store should have the metal stems used in mag type wheels which have a bolt to tighten them vs: being pulled through, I have them both on my truck and trailer due to the loads I carry

Car Quest carries steel valve stems. The ones I have on my duelly came from Pep Boys. I've replaced the tires 4 times since they were installed.
