So, what did this harness from Daniel Stern cost? I am trying to figure out how much all of this together is going to cost. How much are the sport headlights from Dodge (OEM part)?

Sooo, received the new 'sport' headlights from ebay seller. but haven't heard back from suvlights. Is Stern the next best source for the heavy duty harness?

I would say Stern is the best source for the harness. One thing about the sport headlights - the cheaper, non-OEM ones leave something to be desired in the quality and fit. If you read Daniel Stern's site, he really rips on them, and I think he's right. But, genuine Mopar sport lights are big bucks, comparatively speaking. I got the cheaper ones, and I was disappointed with the fit. They really don't fit very well if you look at them closely. Most people won't notice, and the light output is a huge improvement anyway. Just saying - you get what you pay for. One of my side marker lights came with a crack and leaked water. They were good about replacing it at no charge, though. If I bought another set, I'd probably bite the bullet and pony up the dough for authentic Mopar ones. This is definitely a worthwhile mod.

Hi Bob, using Sport OEM parts, do I need the: - lens and housing ( 55077043AF & 55077042AF) , or

-headlight assembly (55077025AG & 55077024AG) ?

It is not clear to me and I do not want to end up missing parts. I see there is a separate part called Mount Panel which is included in the assembly but not in lens and housing. Do I need that or I can reuse the one from my existing non-sport lights?



I'll figure out where to get a good harness from. I e-mailed D. Stern. I have no answer yet.

Also Geno's sell a Bright Box for conversion from non-sport to sport lights and they told me that is I use it I do not need to get a separate harness. Does anyone use this product? Is the wiring good with separate relays to help the switch live longer?

Yes, the LMC harnesses are complete with separate relays. They have two different P/N and say you need one of each - not sure why. I have everything sitting on the bench in the shop ready to go but have had some other priority repairs and upgrades to get done on my rig so I have not gotten into the light upgrade yet.

Do a search about Brite Box and draw your own conclusions... Once I learned of this Sport light conversion and these pre-made harnesses, I knew it what was I wanted. And yes, they will save your headlight switch from frying, or at least prolong its life depending on how much damage it already has.

Thought I would send along an update. It has been nearly three years since I put in the new headlights and covered them with the plastic from Xpel.

Here is a picture I took Saturday (yes, I know the truck is dirty). I can't tell any difference, so I'd have to say it seems to me like a success!

I'm happy with it.

I had the film on my OEM lights, never put it on the sport conversion. I will say over time on the fogs it bubbled and it was almost impossible to remove the film, it is like it had a chemical reaction in the heat over time, one of them is so yellowed now it is about useless. I have Depo replacement fogs and sport lamps to replace all of the forward lighting. The sport Depo's have lasted pretty well, but are starting to yellow, so time to replace. Geno's now sells the Depo's so easy to source them.

The mod can be done to all 2nd Gen trucks BUT, there is some sheet metal cutting required on the earlier trucks, I believe the 94-97 MY trucks?

I've read several different articles that claim some need trimming and some don't. I did find the lights on eBay but haven't found the updated wiring harness yet. I'll probably order them from Danial Stern Lighting.

Anyone have an OEM part number for the headlights? I'd like to snoop around and see what I can get Mopar headlights for vs aftermarket. And, where to get the harnesses to run them? Every link I find no longer exists....And lastly, can anyone show me pics of a truck that needs trimming and one that don't ? .....

The cutting is required for whatever years never came with dual-bulb lights, as the inner bulb would hit the core support otherwise. I do think you're correct in saying 94-97. No biggie - holesaw and sawzall or maybe a jigsaw.

BTW, the SUVLights harness is a POS, IMHO. I ripped mine out on the side of I-95 (after multiple patchwork fixes to relay connectors, relays, fuses, etc over a few years). I say go with Stern if you want factory-style DOT-legal operation, or follow Craig's plans if you want the low filaments on all 4 bulbs lit on low beam, and all 4 high filaments lit on high beam.
