New engine

Its time for bigger turbo & injectors on '06

No performance gains over a 2 year old BHAF. I was at the track last Wednesday and saw no improvements in my ETs.

On the dyno today, again no improvemant to speak of.

The only benefits that I can see are lower EGTs by 50*, louder turbo (if you like that), and it's a dry filter that is renewable. Tha last one did it for me.

It is basically a very high quality filter using some of the best filter technology out there. It seems to flow at least as well as BHAF filters, drops EGTs slightly, and is cleanable without water or oil (just use shop air) so you can reuse it. For folks who want a dang good filter with the cost savings of being reusable and the conveniance of not having to use oil and wait for it to dry, it is a great option. Is if not paper or gauze, so water will not cause it to disintegrate and puke its guts into your engine. Get a BHAF wet and the filter media becomes unstable under suction. The filter is of very high quality, using thick, flexible rubber flanges and seals. The filter cone is protected by a chrome steel assembly to prevent damage and enhance looks. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from customers about this filter. It is a great alternative to the traditional BHAF, especially when underhood space is an issue.

Read about Donaldson Nanofiber technology here:

Going great so far. Better flow, more seat of the pants power/spool up speed. Seems to have plenty of air. The filter cleans out super easy and is very well built. The flow is there, the quality is there, and the turbo noise is there. I think this is a very viable filter option for people who want a high performance filter that is reusable without having to wet wash and oil. My old BHAF has been on the shelf since I installed the AMSOIL filter, and that is where it is staying.

I think the expansion slit at the end of the 4" exhaust tubing is where the extra air flow is coming from :-laf

OOPS, I thought i had that consealed better. Now everybody knows my trick to ultimate air flow. :-laf

Just ordered 2 EaAU4090 -- 1 for the hauler and 1 for the sled puller. Should go nicely with my full silicone hose sets on the way from DPP. And post some pics of how all this will look in my 3rd gens when I get it hooked up.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Hohn and Chuck Deye for the 'heads up' on this new filter technology.

I am so fed up with short lived paper and oil issues (too dry; too wet; too dirty).

Any more updates on this filter over the longer run yet?

I have the drop in filter on my 3rd gen, and it stopped the darn filter minder from always getting sucked in!

I like the filter, but I wonder about long term issues compared to the BHAF. I have outwears on my BHAF, and it keeps it pretty clean for a long time. Can't complain there, but I would like to lower my EGT's a bit more. And every little bit adds up when you are lowering your EGTs.

I know a few people that are running the Amsoil nanofibre from Duluth Diesel. They are very happy with the results. One guy is running it in an offroad truck which is used in very dusty inviroments. He has onboard air, and it makes it very easy to clean the filter when ever he needs to.

besides this new BHAF from Amsoil is there any word on the original filter of the thread the Donaldson Powercore massive 1000 cfm 99. 9 % clean filter?? i like that one better by far. I had a BHAF and I like this Amsoil Blue BHAF replac ment too but that big rotary air compresssor filter would be nice. . any infor on what compressor used it etc etc?

Thanks,

Deo

Ah . . I think you misunderstood me. . . If you read the begin of this 19 page thread it started regarding a different filter then this nanofiber amsoil / donaldson filter. The thread started regarding a experimental donaldson powercore filter that flowed 1000 cfm and was 99. 9 clean / effeicent it was being designed to work on a 50hp industrial rotary aircompressor. The guys here were talking to donaldson tring to get the info regarding what company was building the air compressors and how to get a filter by ordering it asa replacement etc... I was asking if there was any news on that filter?

Thanks

Deo

I worked a little more on this last week and spoke with both AMSOIL Corporate and Donaldson directly. As far as I can determine with their help, there is no Nanofiber BHAF-like filter that would work with our trucks. All Donaldson filters with a 4" flange (like our traditional paper BHAF filters like the Fleetguard AH19037) are paper as well. Donaldson does not make a Nanofiber filter with a 4" flange. If someone could physically get their hands on a Donaldson filter catalog that listed filter specs and dimensions, we may have a chance of figuring out what would work. I think, based on my snooping around, that we would have to find a nanofiber cartridge and a Donaldson filter housing to put the filter in to make it work. If they made a Nanofiber BHAF cross-ref filter, I would be stocking that filter as well! :) I'll keep looking, and if anyone out there can look as well, have at it!

So far, the AMSOIL Nanofiber filters have performed flawlessly and been easy to clean, even in extremely dusty sandy conditions. We were out running heavy sweep on a local rally car race, and another sweep vehicle's K&N filter completely clogged while on the race course, and he was unable to blow it clean due to the filter oil doing a great job of hanging on to the dirt. He was unable to clean his filter since he didn't have access to water and cleaning products. The Nanofiber filters blew clean in easily with compressed air, and take off, cleaning, and reinstall took all of 5 minutes. They hold up well, are quick and easy to clean, and are not sensitive to moisture like paper and gauze. They are every bit the quality filter they are said to be. These new filters have been selling better than anything I've ever seen, and I've heard nothing back but positive comments.

Thanks guys!

In my opinion, it should be quite possible to adapt this FA-1759 kit to work on our trucks with a little light fabrication.

I want to do it... some day.

if i remember my readings from the diesel stop, that air filter doesn't flow enough air for the mid/heavy modified 7. 3... stock or lightly modified should be good though. .

But I would think it's appropriately sized for a 5. 9...
