Nobody on the TDR ever did answer the age-old question of whether it's okay to just slap in any 'ol injector in your Cummins, and expect the engine to last, as well as run right... . spray pattern is crucial, is it not? The sled pullers and extreme HP crowd are running ANY injector they can, especially in the 24 valve applications... but they have the $$$ to not care about the old cylinder wall washdown scare, and whatever other threats that funny injectors may pose... . all of this was brought up over a year ago, and there were no answers.
My DD3's have performed flawlessly for over 70,000 miles. An excellent choice, considering my truck pulls quadruple duty as daily transportation, a work vehicle, an RV-towing vehicle, and a part-time drag racer.
I'M NOT SAYING OTHER INJECTORS WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS. I'm simply pointing out that we never received an answer from anyone on the EDM vs. extrude-hone, and the spray-pattern issue.
If DD has a different way of doing it, you can bet they have a mighty good reason. Research & development.
I acknowledge that some of my favorite vendors do sell brands other than, or in addition to, Diesel Dynamics. It does come down to giving the customer what they want, and that's fine. Anybody on here have a 24-valve with 80,000-150,000 miles, with a set of "showerheads" ?
