I have a C-6 with lower first and second gears from Ford motorsports. It has the 3rd gear clutch with 5 discs in it instead of three. It also has a kevlar 2nd gear brake band. First to second shift has always been very soft. Second to third has always been brutal since the addition of the lower gearsets/clutch/brake. Since the addition of these parts we have tried 3 differnt valve bodies and it currently has a TCI full-manual valve body. No change in performance between the differnt valve bodies. We just pulled the trans because the of the loud bang on the last test drive and loss of forward motion. The 460 at 6000 rpms broke the input shaft in the covertor.
Will the kevlar band produce a differnt shift then the stock style band? What can cause the 2nd-3rd shift to be brutal? Called TCI with little help, called Ford Motorsports, they gave us a number of a independant chop that want us to spend $1000 and bring the trans to him. We would rather not go that route.
