Cab Clearance Lights Question

Just picked up the 2020 in my signature block two months ago that didn't come with the cab clearance lights. I've been told by a dealership (mom used to sell there, her husband is the service manager and I'm friends with the CDRJ technician) that because my truck didn't come with the lights, factory lights can't be added because of the sunroof. Has anyone heard or seen of this issue? My 02 has them, but I ordered the truck with them.

I have a 2020 with the cab lights and the sunroof so it can be done... I just wish I could delete the sunroof and the cab lights... I already had a leak in my DS grab handle the other day in the rainstorm.. JM2C there are no cab lights or sunroofs out there that dont leak.. just those that haven't yet........

^^ I will never order another vehicle with clearance lights or a sunroof again due to many past horrible experiences.

Not to mention the fun of trying to flush/blow out those little drain hoses from the sunroof.

Why, do you want them?

To me they are nothing but a leak point sometime in the future. I have a 2008, with no cab clearance lights or sunroof and I do not have any leaks after 16 years.

I always thought they looked pretty cool. I guess I have been lucky so far but probably due to my truck is under cover when not being used.

I don’t even like the pike and sharks fin in my roof. And forget the sliding rear window also

All my Dodge/Ram’s have had clearance lights without any issues. The 05 and 22 had them installed at the factory, and I installed them on my 18. The install was nerve wracking but not difficult. None of these trucks have a sunroof thou, they take up too much headroom for me.

They have been on all of mine, 01, (04 3500), 02, 18 and 24. I installed a factory set on my 01. it came with a template instructions where to insert the pin into the headlight switch etc.. I started on the left side (Drivers side) install the first one then made sure it worked. Did that with all of them having no problems.

Not clear who in the dealership told you this but I'd check with the parts counter people and see what they say.

Yup. We had some rain this weekend and noticed the exact same leak. Picked up some clear rtv and gonna re seal all of them today.

I agree on looking cool. Further when we hauled RV's the broker wanted us to have pickups with clearance lights. I miss em on my 2018 even though my 2003 had to have them replaced twice for leaks. As above there are already other holes in the roof that need TLC to keep leaks under control.

I believe there are kits out there and perhaps find another place that's comfortable and experienced installing them!

When I got my used '03 the cab lights leaked like a sieve. I removed them and siliconed them and it didn't help. What I found was the lenses had cracks in them. I bought a set of OEM replacements and installed them with the screws just snug, not tight. Haven't had a problem in 6 years.
