Ok Sports Fans anyone have an idea why I don't have a removable panel on my 2015 LongHorn?

Yes I could cut the hole and buy filter and cover but after talking to my parts buddy he said he would not waste the time and money for the type of driving conditions I am in. He also said it does reduce the air flow.

Your “parts buddy” is incorrect.

My Lowly Tradesman has the cabin air filter. I can’t tell any difference in airflow between it and my previous 2014 RAM 3500 sans cabin air filter.

The much cleaner interior is a dead giveaway that it works. Reduced crud and crap going into the HVAC system can only be better.

On my 14 3500 Tradesman, I ran the first 50k miles or so without it. After I installed the Geno's kit, for the next 125k miles and many years, the interior and especially where you can really see dust and such on the plastic, dash, console, etc., it was significantly cleaner. And changing the Filter every 25k miles or so, you could really see the crud it catches. Such a simple, easy mod, cheap mod to do. And I didn't notice any difference at all in airflow with or without it.

I cut out the opening and install a filter and door on my 2015. From what I understand, no 2015 had it OEM. I did notice any reduction in air flow. Less dust as noticed above. SnoKing

So WHY didn't my HighEnd LongHorn come with a filter???

So WHY didn't my HighEnd LongHorn come with a filter???
Because RAM didn’t fully start incorporating them until the 2016 model year, and then in only certain trim levels. As I recall.....all RAM HD’s had them in 2017, regardless of trim level.

Do you also think FCA puts a different CTD or AS69RC in a Longhorn versus a Tradesman? :p

On mine, I used a 15 watt soldering iron that I put in a modified tip. Had a nail that fit the bill, ground it flat and proceeded to trim out the opening. The Geno's kit is the way to go! Does keep the interior much cleaner and no difference in air flow. You'll want to keep as much crap out of HVAC box to avoid heater core, evaporator and fan motor issues! Had and have this issue on my '01 1500! Had to pull dash and replace said items and the evaporator has rotted again!
