Here I am

California.... I don't like living here!

Thanks, TDR Staff

I did something yesterday

I'M DISGUSTED! New ford boasts 24,500 lb Tow Capacity!

Just pass the word in CA that they don't want to move to CO. The weather here is horrible, we're too rural, LOVE guns, & allow . 50 cals! Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona are all VERY nice places to move!

Hey, hey, careful now! We don't need any Kalifornians in Az:eek:

Besides, it's terrible to live in Arizona... too hot, too dry, overrun with illegals,

too many guns. Nobody should move here:-laf

I don't know if the card I got is a unfunded threat to scare those who own diesels. Again, I can't see them forcing you to retrofit the vehicle or force you to get a new one... (It would go to the courts)

If they decide to retrofit, I can tell ya that I will not do it and they can take me to court and everything else under the book. I am starting to wonder where the "Land of the Free" slogan came from.

That card does not apply to pickups. Those of us who live in rural counties didn't even get one. I really don't think it will ever apply to pickup trucks anyway.

At work all the cats are to be retro fited including the draglines and they are already replacing all the old equipment with the new spec junk.

My wife and I left California in the late 70's and have never regretted it.

We go back yearly to visit family and some friends and are constantly amazed at what the State is trying to get people to do.

The most recent bright idea is the thermostat proposed law I of heard of today. I haven't read anything personally, but a few co-workers told me that the state of California is going to try to control your thermostat.

Say it ain't so please!!!!!!!

Anybody from California know anything about this?

Chuck E.

PG&E wanted to be able to save power on hot summer days. So there will not be brown outs. It got nixed, but they are trying to push it for businesses still.

It seems California are the ginney pigs for the rest of the nation when it comes to strict/harsh regulations. It seems if it's working in California. You will see 8-10 states to follow.

While this state can be crazy place to live. There are not too many states out there that you can drive to ocean and 3 hours later be in the mountains of Sierra's or Cascade's Ranges. Drive through Central California and you think your in the midwest (flat agriculture) and keep driving down south and reach desert.

BUT, when the day comes to retire. I will be moving out of the state and live comfortable w/o all the high prices here.

The courts have already ruled that the EPA can regulate CO2 emissions. So the EPA merely has to say "we need to remove all pre-2003 vehicles from the road or retrofit them in order to comply with this court decision".

Let me outta here! How's Texas? I was looking in the Hill Country until the floods. Oregon is about as liberal as Mass. , so goes Wash.

Arizona has McCain, Nevada loves Dashel. OOPS, REED. But they probably love him too.

Where to go?

Nevada loves Dashel.

I'm gonna guess that you mean Nevada loves Reid?

Personally..... I can't stand either one of them!:-laf

Edit: FWIW We are thinking of either moving to SE Idaho or back to Utah/South of Happy Valley of course.

Right, I was in a hurry, my lunch was ready. I don't miss too many meals.

Question. Is there any place in Nevada that has green besides Tahoe? I am getting desperate to get out of here.

I think I saw that California lost 85,000 legals last year. Probably gained 1,000,000 or those other kinds. We aren't allowed to call them alians, the secret liberal police will come and scratch my truck if I do.

Well,

There isn't alot of green here in Nevada, but there isn't alot of people either.

One of the greenest areas around Carson and Reno is the Carson Valley. Link: Carson Valley - Visitors Authority

If you want less people around you do a search for Spring Creek, Nv.

Spring Creek is located in North Eastern Nevada.

There are some good down to earth folks up there and the mountains and scenery are some of the best in Nevada.

moved out of cali 10 years ago. live in salt lake city now. have a regular 4 seasons out here. . 30 miles to the south is a fresh water lake,... 30 min to the east is the best skiing anywhere at 8000 ft. , 30 min to the west is desert,. . also 30 min from that lake is Sand dunes,... . 4 hours from here is red-rock and Moab, canyonlands, bryce canyon, cedar breaks, escalante staircase national forest...

We have NEVER regretted moving from california... yeah the winters are cold and not much to do unless you have winter toys. . Brand new house here... 3500 sq. ft in a new building site is around $350K... most average houses are going for 200 or so if they are a few years old... Our million dollar houses are in ski resorts and 5000 sq ft. !!

a lot of california transplants are coming here and it isn't hard to see why... I mean we did. . I was born and raised in El Cajon. . (san diego suburb city). . have a 01 cummins that makes 400 hp and even with all my extra power turned on, I still pass emissions... get that.

My wife and I grew up in California, she's a native Californian. I lived in

Pleasanton and she in Sunol, we attended the same high school.

In 1966 I was drafted durning the Viet Nam war, when I left Pleasanton there were approximatly 4,000 people in the town. I came back in 1969 there was 25,000 to say that the town had changed was an understatement.

You should see it now it is so Yupped out it sickens me.

The article by Ken Freund (700 lb. Gorilla in the room) fits my California expierence to a tee. I used to come home from high school and go bird hunting, grab my . 410 shotgun walk across the street with my friends into the sugar beet fields and hunt.

Try that today and the SWAT team and local news helicopters would be on us like a duck on a june bug!

There are way to many people California, but it is a beautiful state.

And that's the Point. You see the Black Sooty Exhaust plume of the Diesels of old; it justs make a good target for the Eco-Nazis, where the clear and more carcinogenic exhaust of the Gassers gets less attention. Remember CA's love affair with the Electric car, Zero Pollution! Moose

People seem to forget that those batteries have to come from somewhere, and that the chemicals inside of them have to be mined from somewhere. And that at 100k or 10 years how smug will their faces be in their prius when the batteries are dead and just piling up as toxic waste somewhere. What happens when all of the hybrid batteries die? Who is saving the environment then? Really should've just bought a Jetta TDI instead and probably get better mpg with more torque!

And targetting soot, doesn't the country still get about 40% of it's power from Coal power plants or something ridiculous like that? I love dirt, diesel and wood, but pretty soon I feel like I'm going to have somebody telling me it's too dangerous for me to get my hands dirty anymore. And we have the legal system to thank for that.

No doubt about it, California is a grand state as far as weather, varied and mostly lovely landscape and recreation - but screwy politics and overcrowding, including being over-run by economy sapping illegal aliens has effectively ruined the state as a comfortable, economical and friendly place to live.

We solved PART of the overcrowding - we LEFT! :-laf

And no, we didn't just contribute to unwanted overcrowding in this area - the total population of Grant County Oregon, is about 7000 - John Day has about 3000, and Canyon City, where we live, has about 750. That makes for enough population locally to provide absolutely all normal necessities, a nearly new and well equipped Hospital, as well as the other amenities that make up a well rounded community. Home prices here are among the lowest in the nation, and this area has it's own great hunting, fishing and outdoors attractions.

We paid about $180K for this 2000 sq ft 6 year old home:

Any Californians interested in moving North to a nice quiet rural area, and wanting more John Day area info, here's a couple of my websites:
