Check engine light came on.
Scanned with my code-reader doohickey that I've mentioned in other threads.
Looked up code on internet (P24AE: most of the mentions were particulate-filter related)
Drove a few decent highway miles from Keller to Lewisville, cleared code. Went inside to eat. Came back out, drove home.

No light. I guess that resolved it. :)

Yep. Tune to turn off EGR and better manage DEF, and code reader/clearer has made the difference in keeping my ED on the road for 530k now. Engine did push a head gasket at 371k so keep an eye on your coolant level. These tend to develop slow coolant leaks in EGR cooler etc (still passes pressure test) just keep coolant to seam in degas/overflow bottle until repaired.

I believe EGR cooler is covered under federal mandated emissions warranty until 80k. Most who get an EGR cooler leak beyond the 100k power train warranty get a simple delete kit & $50 tune upgrade for their “off road” truck. That said with the federal emissions class action when the truck is brought in for the software update owners will get a check and extended emissions warranty that I presume will cover the EGR cooler.

I would not delete one at all until both post 100k warranty and it developed an emissions problem. A GDE tune on the other hand would be the one thing I would invest in with a brand new ED. But I’ve been through it so I understand the practical dealings of how it works with the dealership the tune and FCA.
