Can 5th wheel prep package third brake light camera be moved to tailgate???

My wife purchased our current truck and asked if it had a backup camera.......well, the salesman said yes. Turns out its the camera that is for folks that haul 5th wheel hitch type trailers and is mounted up on the third high mount brake light. Can I get a camera for the tailgate handle and install, then have the dealer enable it? My dealer isn't up to speed and had no idea when I asked them.

I have been told that you can buy the tailgate camera and install it no problem but may have to go to dealer for flash to enable it

Check to make sure you do not have both. I have a 14 and the tailgate camera is down low and shows in the mirror. They had a change in 15 so they are both on the screen. Check under controls on your screen. You can pickup a back up for about 60 at auto zone if you don't have it,

I’ve only got the high mounted camera. Looks like a fair bit of work to install the tailgate mounted camera and there is also some uncertainty as to whether or not it will work as there is a note about not being compatible with hands free model equipped trucks.
