This is probably going to sound odd, though here's the delimma. I ordered a turbo to run as a large single on my 06. It has a T6 mounting flange. Should I run a normal T3 style exhaust manifold with the T6 adaptor? Should I run a T4 style ATS big foot exhaust manifold with a T4 to T6 adaptor? Or the last choice. . Joe Helmann makes custom exhaust manifolds that are huge. He said he will make me a large exhaust manifold with a T6 flange if that's what I want. That option is more expensive, yet custom. On gas motors, you can actually go too large on the exhaust (especially headers) and it sometimes hurts power. Could our exhaust manifolds ever be too big?

I don't think you could build one usable that would be too big. On gas engines without forced induction you need a balance of back pressure. If the back pressure we are experiencing from the turbo is the same how would the manifold change it enough. I'm just a backyard type mech, so this is JMO.

I beg to differ. If it were not possible, then wouldn't the aftermarket folks all build the absolute largest usable manifolds?

haha. . I need all the luck I can get. . As you all know, I don't know much about turbos. . The wheels are very similar in size to the A5000. They told me the turbo will also spool quicker than the A5000. . The place I'm having it built (Forced Inductions) sells the A5000 turbos as well. I just explained that I wanted something like the 5000, and they said they would build what they feel is what I need. . Nathan W. said he would call and instruct them on what he feels I need. . It's nice to have friends on the forum. .
