I took out my probe for the pyrometer in the exhaust manifold. Is there a cap that would go over the adapter fitting to cap the hole off untill I put in a new probe? I know I could take out the adapter & just put in a pipe plug, but I'm afraid of breaking off the adapter!!:{

The thermocouples I've used take a standard compression fitting. If your thermocouple used a ferrell between the adapter and nut to seal it, you should be able to use a standard compression plug that's available at any hardware store, Home Depot or Lowe's.

Well Rusty, I think you are right. I put on a 1/4" compression cap, it started and went on 2 or 3 turns. I don't think it bottomed out but seems pretty tight.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't even think about compression fittings!!:D
