The carrier bearing went in the 99 the other day and none of the local speed shops or parts store has the right one.

This is the only one that I can find

So i called the dealer and it seems they are the only ones that have the right one, but that is $140

where is everyone getting theirs??

Try to find a local driveline shop or transmission shop. they should be able to help rather than parts jobbers. It wouldn't be a bad Idea to have the driveline shop R&R it and check the balance and alignment on it right away. With the diesel it is harder to tell if it is slightly out of balance as a smoother quieter gasser. If its even slightly out of balance or alignment which most that have been pounded on and off are your pinion bearings and seal will have a shorter life span as will your joints and rear seal and bearing in trans.

we just got off the phone with a company that makes carrier bearings and they couldnt cross the OEM number to one of theres and said its a dealer item only.

BILLVO we went to the local Fleet pride(Universal joint sales) and they also said its a dealer item

Michael, I have a new one in the back of my truck. Federal-Mogul Bearings # HB-88107-B. Got it my local parts store. I think 94-99 are the same part #. If you want I'll give you the phone number and you can call and check. Bob's Auto Parts 610-828-7144. I get a discount so I might save you a buck or two. Let me know what you want to do.

Had a brain fart. Just remove the rubber holding the bearing and the bearing. As long as the bearing will fit on your drive shaft, you can exchange the bearing and rubber. I think your new bearing is for 89-93 Dodges cause it's housing matches that part. Check www.Quad4X4.com , Dodge driveshafts

Part # QK3064 @89. 95. This is the right part. If you need it fast, overnight it. Hope this help.

When I changed mine long ago I just got one like pictured above from Carquest and swapped the bearing into my OE Dodge housing and it works fine. I have also read on here that Napa has one that is correct out of the box but I don't have any numbers.

I just had my carrier bearings replaced during a rebuild. If you want I will ask the shop tommorrow about a 89 bearing set and will post the numbers and the source.

Update

Got the right bearing from the local Dodge dealer. the list price was $140. 00, got it for $104. 00  And it was in stock!!

I looked at quad 4X4's page and yes they have the right ones for 85. 00 and 15. 00 shipping (that guy has everything!!)

F. Y. I the bearing i had posted is for 1989-93

Thanks for all the help.

http://www.partsamerica.com/Product...searchfor=Driveshaft+/+Center+Support+Bearing I know it's not earthshaking but everyone calls the bearing a "carrier bearing" when in fact it is actually a "center support bearing" or "drive shaft support bearing". A "carrier bearing" is one of the bearings in the differential that are on either side of the ring gear. Might be missing some hits by asking for the wrong thing? bg
