so the other day i noticed my power steering leaking again. its been doing this on and off for a few months now and ive been intending to fix it come august. anyways i had things to do and people to see so i took off and drove my truck with this very active leak (you could see the trail behind me in parking lots). drove about 50 miles round trip and had no problem. next day i get in the truck and i hear the pump singing ok so its low on fluid. go over to my shop and top it off took less then a quart to fill so i start the truck and turn the wheel back and forth to bleed the system out and make sure its full. well the wheel wouldnt turn the pump kept howling and the fluid came pouring out of the box like i had a broken hose. mind you the fluid was pouring out around the sector shaft where the pitman arm attaches. made a big puddle of fluid and coated the undercarriage in about 30 seconds. what im curious about is has this ever happened to anyone else? the box showed the normal wear and leaks that these trucks exhibit but ive never heard of the seal just failing like that.
anyways i have the new borgeson box and steering shaft coming along with the steering stabilizer and the steering column bushing so after its all done i should have perfect steering especially since i have the heavy duty t style steering already installed.
i would like some feed back on the column bushing who has done it and does it really work as well as they say it does?
