In a 2nd Gen Quad Cab, where are ya'll running your CB cables out of the cab and towards the antenna? I have my CB mounted in the center area just behind the floor mounted cupholder/gearshift area in front of the console. I'm planning on running a single antenna preferably mounted on the tool box. Right now my only thoughts are drilling a hole in the rear of the cab and running the cable out from there.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

That's what I did. I pulled the carpet up behind the rear seat and drilled a hole in the back wall of the cab and ran the coax along the door sill and up under the seat to the middle. I used a grommet to run the coax through and then smeared RTV around that too.

If you run a 16ft. or 18ft Coax you can run it under the carpet arond the 4wd shifter and under the dash then through the firewall usung a existing hole. That is how I did mine and there are no wires showing. -Jason

Hello,

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 CTD 6spd. I would like to find a nice place suitable to put My C. B. and my 2-way radio, but am limited because of my manual shifter? any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

Bryce

Mine is a 01 as well. Bob Wagner sells a mount similar to the one I built. I think it works with a manual but I am not sure. If you have the tools and the know how. I can take more detailed pics of mine and you can modify it to suit your needs. -Jason

If it's an aluminum box and you're planning on a bolt-on mount, I would consider another location... you will have many corrosion related performance problems.

I made a steel plate and had it powdercoated that mounts (on insulated mounts) between the lids on my box. It's a great place to mount a Wilson 5000 magnet mount antenna.

I ran the coax down through the transfer case shifter boot, along the bottom of the cab and up in front of the bed

I ended up going from the cb backwards to the cab, drilled a hole and installed a grommet along with some RTV, ran the coax up from there to the tool box and mounted. It works fine for me, I'm not looking for a bombproof system. Just something that I can talk and listen on occasionally.

I do need to run the cable under the mat, I've got vinyl floors... no carpet.

Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming, this is useful info that I couldn't find much on.

If you pull the door sills up you can run the coax under them to the middle and under the rubber mat to where the electrical hook up under the driver's seat is and come out that hole in the mat to the radio.

I removed the instrument panel cup holder, (or cubby bin) that is directly in front of the shifter. My Ranger RCI F-150 fit perfectly and is out of the way. Looks like a factory planned placement! I use the Wilson 1000 cab mount antenna on all my vehicles, (Dodge, Pete, Chevy) and get the best ground plane possible. The only drawback is the hole you need to punch through your cab roof, but I have no wires/coax exposed or showing anywhere!
