You're right that is what it says.

BUT......

it will not hurt anything if you do use a fluid with the additive and as some have found out threw experience, that it does have a benefit.

Not to be belligerent , but good for you, your tuck didn't make any noise on your trip.

On my 06 at 60K I pulled the cover, cleaned well, and spray painted with high temp black paint, mine had some rust. Reused the gasket, no problems. BTW, 75-90W is recommended fluid per owners manual, I used synthetic fluid - Valvoline.

I just did both axles with Amsoil 75W90 severe gear.

No additive.

just started getting steering wheel wobbling on slower tighter corners, and my mechanic thinks it needs the additive to help this. This is on my 05 dually. Never had the issue on the 03 2500.

Sounds like nothing to risk by adding it. What do we recommend?

Thanks,

Dave

NO real risk to your diff, but more importantly, NOTHING to be gained in terms of death wobble, which has NOTHING to do with diff fluid but rather is caused by multiple worn and/or loose multiple front end suspension parts, including balljoints, trackball ends, sway bar ends, wheel brings, axle u joints and/or shocks.

In short, while your mechanic may well have given you a decent diff fluid change, you'd best find another who knows more about the cause(s) of DW on these trucks if in fact you are beginning to experience DW while driving.

Just my .02

Thanks. Changed it myself, then brought it in for the wobble.

Hadn't occurred to me they could be related either, but was his idea and cheap to try.

He doesn't see anything too worn. slightly worn ball joints was all, but he didnt think it would cause it.

It is nothing like the 60 MH death wobble i Used to get on the 03 before changing the castor and ditching the 315s.

this happens at 20 or so in a ship turns to either side. Corrects itself easily, but seems like it could be chewing up tires.

Noticeable, but not scary.

So they didnt find anything else to fix in the front end. They put the additive in both my differential, but nothing seems to have changed.

Might this take a bit to work its way in to the gears?
