Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Changed VP44 now injector line leaks

Changed out my VP44 yesterday and now I have a slight leak on the #1 injector line at the head. I have tightened it as much as I feel comfortable with. Is it better to just replace the line? What do they run usually?

Did you replace the o-rings on the connectors? I would start with that if you haven't. When I had to replace one line I think it ran around $50 from Cummins.

Even if I didn't pull the connector could it still be the O-ring? Do you need to pull the injector to pop the tube out or is there an easier way?

Yes it can, just from removing the injector lines. I am not sure on the removal of the connector tube, I have the tool for that (miller or cummins #8324, works wonders)

The connector tube can be popped out with a small flat blade screw driver.

Going by tonight and pick up a new tube and o-ring, don't feel like doing it twice.

Try putting a very small amount of grease on the bulb end of the line and the threads of the nut. Sometimes the line will try to follow the nut around when you tighten the nut and that will keep it from seating properly.

At the time, I hadn't seen a torque spec for those lines, and had one of mine leaking after a VP-44 leak too. I kept tightening it more - more than I was happy about, but it finally stopped leaking - lucky I guess...
