Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Changing from Six Speed to Auto this weekend

I finally got the guts to order an automatic transmission. My 1/4 times really suck so with the Twins, 150 hp injectors, TST box and an Auto trans I am hoping for some decent numbers. I think I have everything pretty well arranged for the swap but would be very interested in any advice. I have been searching threads and making notes as well. The swap will be in Minooka Illinois. Should be interesting. PS the Trans is a 47 RH so I won't have any computer issues, I think.

good luck with the swap. hopefully it goes well. I am interested to hear how it turns out for you. are you swapping steering columns or going with a floor shifter? is your dash indicator for gear selection going to be functional?

the 47rh still have computer controlled OD and TC lock up. I guess you could put them on toggle switches. I believe that there is a different spline count on the output shafts of the manual and the auto's which will cause transfer case issues.

Yes, I am going to have toggles for OD and TC lock up. I did order a different shaft for the transfer case. I am planning to use a manual steering column. Not sure how the indicator may or may not work.

I'm diggin down deep for an auto too. and to think I purposely bought this thing in a manual. Stupid, stupid stupid! anybody need a SBC DD and 5 spd?



toggles huh? I hadnt thought of that. I was trying to figure a way to run them off solenoids on the VB circuits.

The Auto is in and bolted up. Did not get all the parts this week that were supposed to come. So far so good. !!! Special thanks to Jeff Bird. Without his help 12 hours today, I would still be scratching my head. Thanks Jeff
