Charging Batteries

Should I charge them caps on or off? I always did caps off so they could gas,but what a mess it makes. I need some insight. Thanks

Good question. I think removing the caps may be an old wife's tale. Some people do, some don't. I never have and haven't had a problem, the caps have vents built in. What are you supposed to do with a "maintenance free" battery? I think if you charge at under 20 amps you should have no trouble leaving the caps on.
