Same thing on mine. Dealer didn't have the newest version for ECM update after G30 recall. Next day they updated and haven't had anymore MIL since then. (2 weeks)

Well, my light's back on, P0128. It came on shortly after I got on the expressway, the engine was not quite fully warmed up.

I had this code pop up last night. I drove about 15 miles (30 degrees outside temp. ) Ate supper and visited with wifes co-workers for about 1 1/2 hours, left the restuarant and drove about 3 miles and cel came on. p0128. Still on this morning. Going to drive it awhile and see what happens.

Same here, P0128, but no the same conditions/drive as I normally do. My dealer talked w/ STAR and they said that it is a known problem and a "false fault" there will be a new calibration coming out this Thursday that will fix this.

I had an intermittent TPS light in the first 300 miles followed by a constant CEL at 600 miles on my '08. When I took it in they said they checked the tail pipe for soot and didn't find any, then checked the O2 sensors and found soot and cleaned them. They then reflashed to update the software version and pronounced my truck fit as a fiddle. Now my question is; where did the soot come from and why?? Sounds as though they are treating the symptom and not the disease. Never said anything about any recall either.

Coming home tonight I noticed an outline of an engine on the panel. The book said it should go out after 15sec. , it stays on. Guess I'll drive it a while and see what happens. And only 1200 miles#@$%!

That is the CEL or Check Engine Light. Mine has come on now with a P242 code three times, the first two times I cleared the code and the light went out. I am not clearing it this time to see what happens... so far the light is staying on. I never seen this code or any others until I had the G30 recall and reflash done.

Is there a letter after the P242? There could be a B, C, D, or F. Depending on which P242 code it is it could mean repairs... ... . as a P242F is a sign of a plugged soot filter and per a TSB a dealership will replace.

Where do you see the code and how do you clear it?

Tim

I am reading and clearing the code with my DashHawk but you can also get the code by cycling the key three times without starting the engine and the code should display where the odometer reads.

The DashHawk doesn't give me the letter after the P242 but cycling the key three times does and its a 'P242b' which according to Josh as Dishman Dodge that is a "EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE - BANK 1 SENSOR 3" on my truck. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/1866800-post2.html I suppose I best get a hold of the service dept. and find out what their suggestion is. It appears to be regenerating just fine as it did the morning on the way to work even with the CEL on.

That is your #3 temp sensor circuit in the exhaust system..... you should check the connector itself to see if it is loose or if the connector is full of dirt or debris.

Same here, had the recall done and 2 weeks later got the t-stat code. My mechanic gave me the same song and dance about the computer being confused. The only thing I had done different is plug my truck in. He suggested not plugging it in and seeing if it happened again. So far so good, been about 1K miles and no light. BTW this is the only problem I have had in 7K miles.

I got an appointment this afternoon to get it checked out so I will let them take a look otherwise I would look at the switch myself. It sounds like they need to do the latest reflash (AW) as well.

I went to the dealer today to see what the CEL was on for. The tec. said it was something to do with the temperature something, I can't remember what the other word was. He said don't worry about it. He reset it and said to call him Monday. He said most of the problems are for the emission system on the truck and this light wasn't for that. I'll see what happens. Other than that it's a great truck

They simply reflashed my truck with the 'AW' program and the CEL is now off, hopefully it stays off.

When they plugged their computer in there was no VIN showing on the screen so they questioned my DashHawk being plugged into the OBDII port and wanted to know what it was and said that if that was creating the problem that it would void the warranty. I assured them that it was simply a display and not a programmer. I asked them afterwards if they figured out what happened to the VIN as they had just reflashed on 11/28 they didn't have an answer. They like most places seem pretty tight lipped with any information on the DPF system... maybe they don't know much?

I have had this problem of not being able to get cel codes, takes too much time to

go to dealer, does anyone use a scanner

to read cel before going to dealer??

would a Auto Xray 6000 scanner work??

I have tried the ign. three times also

and didn't work. it would be great info to

have before going to dealer, last time

truck tied up all day just to have them

tell me it's a thermostat opening to soon

and not to worry. what do you all think

2008 chassis cab inferno red,custom

alum. body ,19. 5 rickson wheels

Sounds like Dodge needs to get their poop together... . Had 24,000 care free miles, had the recall service completed and the MIL light came on the next day with the same P0128 code. Now the trucks in the shop getting checked out
