I noticed today that my chrome is bubbleing on my grill in one spot. I tried to push it back down but no luck. Is there anything i can do about this before it cracks and peels?

The damage is already done. Chrome actually accelerates corrosion once it's seal is broken. I would try a body shop to see if they can tell you where to have it repaired/re-chromed.

The grill is plastic mberry - I don't know of anyone that rechromes plastic (if you do let me know because I've got some of it on my '69 GTO that I need done :) ). I also had a spot bubbling up on my chrome grill. It was caused by me moving the truck in the garage when the hood was up and ran it into the garage door :( . What happens is you get a small pinhole in the chrome surface then it seperates. I think the only option is to replace it. In my case the bubble didn't get any worse for close to 2 years so I just left it. It's still not any worse but the entire grill is toast now (I ate an '02 Bravada with the front end :( ) so I've got to replace it all now anyway.

Mine is all screwed up too. Mine was caused by driving in a wind storm earlier this year when we had 60mph sustained and 75+mph wind gusts, it was stong enough to pick up large pieces of gravel from the side of the road and pummel my truck with it. It dented and dinged my grille in several places and punched a hole in one of my fog lights.

There were places where the road was completely covered by gravel blown off a lot adjacent to the highway.

GOATS ROCK!!!!!

'69 GTO

Sweet. My favorite car. My parents had a '68. 400 ram air, factory hurst 4 speed, all black. They bought it brand new for $2800. 00

Wish they would have kept it for me until 1986 when I got my drivers liscense..... LOL:cool:

Have any pics, steve?

Chris

That's exactly what I was looking for Philip - thanks.

Chris, here's a pic. It's a 4 speed car as well - extremely rare in a convertible. Unforetunately it's been down for a number of years. I blew the transmission and tore the engine down to rebuild it at the same time. When I tore the engine down I found a HUGE weld in the lifter valley so I need to get a new block. Then kids came, etc, etc. Still have it sitting in the garage waiting for the day that I have the money to get it going again.

Steve something to think about on that block. If the weld has not broken or a crack started running out from it. It is a good weld.

How long did you drive this engine before you found the crack? If it was for a while I would trust the weld and just rebuild the block you have.

That looks just like theirs, but a hardtop. Does it have the hideaway headlights? They are awesome.

I have an extra bay in my garage I'm not using. I'll be right out with the trailer since its just collecting dust at your place. :D
