Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Clean, smooth, cold weather injectors

Good day. I'm thinking of doing the injectors in the near future. I've been doing little else but reading injector threads lately and I'm probably more confused than ever.



I'm not asking for much, really; smooth running, good economy, a bit of a boost with a minimum of black, less white smoke in the cold, (and I'm talking way below freezing, northern Alberta cold), and not breaking the bank.



I've been thinking about RV275's, Edge Stage 1 or 2 tips, or something else in this range.



I'm definitely not power mad. Light injectors plus my adrenaline will keep me amused for as long as I own this unit... which I'm planning on keeping a very long time.



So what kind of results are people getting from 50-75HP injectors? Keep in mind, I'm looking for smoothness and economy and not black smoke. That, I can get whenever I want by dialing up my Adrenaline.

I have been happy with my Jammer 1's. Have been running them for four years. You did not say what transmission you have installed. Is the clutch or auto up to the additonal power? SNOKING

Have had the RV275 injectors in since new fuel pump. Slightly better economy and low to no smoke. Love them so far.

My Mach 1 injectors have been great, with almost no smoke at all. Even with the comp on 5x5 I still can't get it to smoke like my '92 with the PDR 185s. With my Mach 1s I think I saw about a 1. 5 to 2 mpg increase.

I've been running these Dodge Cummins High Performance Marine Fuel Injector, 1998. 5 - 2002 Dodge Ram 5. 9L Cummins 24 valve (All HP) for a month with a Superchip downloader.

$300 no core charge. Just changed to Adrenaline w/ Pulse. Smoke is easy to control up to level 5.

Can't say how they do in the cold.

I've decided to stay away from tips and will be going with a completely assembled injector set. It's a job I really don't want to have to do twice so getting a matched set from the outset seems the best bet.

My adrenaline already snaps my head back when I crank it up on the stock tunes so power won't be an issue. Drivability, (is that a word... ?), will be more important.

My transmission was allegedly rebuilt just before I bought the truck... and I'm not sure to what degree. So far, it's running beautifully... tight with nice, crisp shifts. This spring I'll have it serviced at a transmission shop and they can run all the tests and can better tell me what I'm dealing with. I'm mostly past my vehicle abusing stage and I have a transmission temp gauge so I'm not too worried about it at the moment.

I would go with mach1's or something similar from ddp or II.

I had a set of 275's and while they where trouble free there are some ad advantages with the newer designs. Afterall the 275's are stock injectors in design.

Does anyone have any experience with Fireball or BD injectors? DD and Mach's seem to be among the more popular choices. Are DD the same as FBD's?

Vulcan Performance sells the Fireballs, I haven't run them, but Eric (Vulcan) is as solid a vendor as there is! Customer service and quality products are top notch. Give him a call, he is a straight shooter.



I am running my second set of DDP injectors and unless someone gives me a free set of sticks to try, I will keep running them as long as I own my truck! Lenny is one of the most knowledgable diesel performance guys around. Great service and top knotch products and performance!



Formula 1 (Machs), never ran them, have heard 99. 9% raves about them! Don M seems like a solid guy. F-1 and DDP are the top injectors around. Sure you pay a premium, but IMHO they are the way to go.
