After running on the dyno a couple of weekends ago, I have started to notice my clutch stinking after I get out of the truck.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me how long I can expect it to hold on? I was hoping I could count on it for another month, and then make a five hour interstate commute to the garage that is going to work on it.

Thanks, Dan

I'm pretty hard on my clutch and I notice it stinking after I get to work. Since then I've backed off a little and it's stopped stinking and it's still holding strong, even with some pretty hard launches and shifting.

I just got it for the Power.

If you don't tow more than 5k lbs of weight, then you can drag it out for about another six months to a year. My clutch was smoked after overpowering it on a dyno, but I continued to tow up to 4k lbs with it and no problems. The dyno puts more of a load on your truck than the street will.

I just had a new clutch put in at 11,700 miles of the 12,000 mile warranty I think the new HO's clutch is the week link.

Outside of what we talked about on the phone the other day, there's not much else I can tell you. 'Cept, Keepin' you foot offn' the go pedal! Seriously, my clutch lasted me quite a while if I didn't abuse it. But when I took it out, it was cooked. Good luck.

Oasis,

I see you are from Marietta, which is close to Lancaster. I got a TON of relatives back there, live on Wheatland Ave in Lancaster. Also, my uncle Steve lives on the Marietta Pike... Bet ya go down that road quite a bit, eh? Also, he's a manager at the Woodridge Pool in Lititz. #ad

Hey Dan,
I guess that is what happens after that little joy ride we took in the country and wrapping out the dyno. I will say that with your driving style (not hammering every shift) that you have no probelm for another month and your long drive. I am honestly surprised that your clutch has lasted as long as it has with the numbers you put up on the dyno. On another note, check the link to the Midwest Dyno Days in Oct in Omaha. I know it is a drive for you, but I would love to see your truck run on that dyno.
Later,
Eric

the clutch will last quite a while, but the thing to watch out for, is if you intend to reuse your flywheel you can damage it beyond the resurfacers ability to repair it. if you continuoisly smoke it, it will/could put surface cracks in it, that may not come out with resurfacing. in other words, they would have to take too much off, to get down past them.
